James Hunt was likely waiting for him at the gates, holding his helmet and driving gloves. Those two were fun to watch back in the day.

What an extraordinary life he had. Rest in peace...

Talk about a man with courage.

Sad to see him pass away so young.

Saw him race in the Dallas Grand Prix in 1984. Nigel Mansell tried pushing his car across the finish line after he ran out o fuel. Heat was major factor during this one-off race.

I went to that race also. Yes, Nigel pushing his car across the finish line was something I'll never forget. He wasn't a fan of the Texas heat as I remember him commenting on it.

I remember him crashing and being burned badly in Germany in 1976... One of the most horrifying crashes ever and it was a miracle he survived.

I was also in the grandstand at Indy in 1973 when Swede Savage hit the wall and then hit the infield pit wall and exploded into a huge fireball. Savage died later that year while recovering.

    RIP Niki.

He was one of those rare lovable a-holes. In fact, I feel like he'd be annoyed with everyone for making a fuss about his passing. No sense in wasting energy on something that won't make the car faster.

Always enjoyed his no **** given attitude when it came to racing. If the rule wasn’t there expressly banning something, Niki would find a way to make it work.

    RIP to a legendary driver.
"Electronic music is human sound adapting to indulge technology, and for some, it feels like the signature sound of energy. New and abstract sounds over hypnotic rhythms can conjure vast soundscapes for escape, pleasure, and transcendence."
  • "His unique achievements as an athlete and entrepreneur are and will remain unforgettable, his tireless zest for action, his straightforwardness and his courage remain a role model and a benchmark for all of us.”

  • Good post. Three-time Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda has passed away, aged 70.
