Sounds incredibly over-engineered in typical Esoteric fashion:

"Esoteric marketing specialist Scott Sefton said that “the N-05 uses most of the same designs and circuitry as the K-05X SACD Player/DAC.” That means it uses dual Asahi Kasei Microdevices AK4490 DAC chips, which according to Esoteric’s website “are configured in four parallel and differential circuits (8 outputs) driving each channel.” Also, “technology developed for the Grandioso C1 (Esoteric’s $40,000 top-of-the-line linestage) is also employed in the DAC’s power supply, which features Electronic Double-Layer Capacitors super capacitors. This regulated power supply boasts a total capacity of 500,000µF per channel for exceptional low-frequency sound reproduction.” That’s more than many power amplifiers have!"

I have the musical paradise DAC after having Marvin bring his to my room several years ago at LSAF! I so intrigued by DAC and so lost some times...I like what you mention in streamers and DACS ect.. the one area I still lost for words in!

I've heard some good ones and maybe I still like my own the best maybe??? I'm so lost as my went out in less then 2 months as the USB board failed me :(

then it took a lot to get it back, and a threat to the owner some what.. he then sent the replacement to me instantly via ship direct from china to my door asap!

now he is making a better one? many at the LSAF ask about my DAC which was never hooked up only off to the side for others to look at! I think serveral people took info from me to buy one if they can even get one!

I bring hat I am following this closely as I don't know where I will end up but I am still loooking for new roads to travel..

    Thank you Johnny!

I don't know John 500,000uf per channel in super caps. I replaced one of my caps with a super cap and it was smaller than the one it replaced.
My phone is more powerful than most computers and it fits in my pocket.

There is a lot going on in that little bit in that box.

I am only going off appearances... for the cost of these things, I would be thinking there would be a more high-end feel under the hood is all.

Technology moves so darn fast (how well we see & know) and with so many options out there to get the job done, I can add that it all can get confusing. This one was brought to my attention from a current owner of one that is selling his (or was as of last Thursday) who simply stated that he was wanting to sell off this one to get the same one I decided on but for diferent reasons than I had, but still he said it sounded great. I was hoping someone here actually had one and would share their experiecne with it?? Hard to keep up with all of the offerings out there but along the journey I sure have seen and heard a lot. One thng for sure, there's always going to be something, newer, faster, better and definitely more expensive. Finding that happy medium in a quality player that doesn't kill your pocket and is user friendly while keeping your ears happy isn't always so easy. Man I know this now. Hopefully the new one will take care of all of that! ?
