Happy Mother's Day...

To all the Moms in our lives, Thank you for being there for all the bumps and skinned knees. Thank you for that smile that parted the clouds of life and turned them into rainbows. Thank you for the little things like cookies with sprinkles, and the big things like not telling dad when we really messed up good.

To our wives that dedicate their all to raising our children and the Grandmas that spoil them rotten before sending them back home.

Hug them all a little tighter and tell them how much you love them, and if they are smiling down from above, take a moment to appreciate just how much they have touched your life... No matter where life takes you, A Mother's love will always be with you.

Well said. My mother is gone for over 20 years, but she lives within me. Any goodness in me, is because of her. Forgive me for posting my favorite photo of her and I from 60 years ago.

Yup! I have one of her with him from 1961 as well. I spun some Conway today just for her. Tomorrow belongs to my wife.

Call your mother on this day. Let every mother you know how special they are. Some, young and old, do not have their mother around to be able to tell them how special they are.

Hey @afterburnt, why the need to muck up a thread that clearly means a lot to folks? Perhaps your contributions here would be better suited in the joke thread, hmm? Maybe you don't see it that way, but what do I know?

So today, like Father's day, is a time a celebration and reflection for me. My Mom passed a few years ago, to join Dad in Heaven about who entered through the gates 10 years earlier.

I often think about my Mom, along with Dad, who raised me, who taught me to become the man that I am. Her love, and kindness, often balanced Dad's approach, which was more demanding and of high expectations.

I never really told her that. About how important she was too me. One of many regrets I have when it comes to my relationship with her.

After college, I moved away from the family to pursue my career. I would visit maybe once/twice year, as I lived all over this country, and abroad. When Mom had a stroke years after Dad passed, I would visit, but pretty much along the same cadence as before, despite the fact that she spent the last years of her life in a nursing home.

Then she passed. Gone. I was, of course, out of state, but took some time off to attend to family and her estate. However I missed an opportunity, one last time, to say -

Thanks Mom, for all you have done, raising me, and 5 other kids, and making me the man that I am. You are part of me, uplifting, and always will be.

Every year since, during my time of reflection, and tears, I think about her, and tell her, Mom, I love you. God bless you. And thank you.
