Captain Marvel

I'm going to start this thread out by saying...yes, there's alot of controversy with this movie regarding all the politics and social media nonsense going on. I'll ask...let's avoid all of this in this thread. If ya want a political thread start your own.

With that, lets get to the movie itself. My overall impression after seeing it yesterday evening...I thought it was very good and very enjoyable. You could sit there and nit pick at things throughout, but i'm not one to do that. I go to the movies to enjoy. I liked Captain Marvel a good deal. It's definitely not the best MCU movie, but it's not the worst. Outside of the Avengers movies, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy are near the top for me. Iron Man 2 & 3 along with Thor Dark World are on the lower end of the MCU for me. Captain Marvel hits in the middle I guess.

I had a good time throughout the movie and yes, it'll become a part of my Blu Ray collection on release day.
No excuses!

Really? While WW always appears measured and restrained, she does have the blood of the old gods (Zeuz himself!) flowing through her.

Not that I'm a big Comic book/MC/DC type of person.

And I have yet to go see the new movie. Usually in no rush for these types of flicks. Catch it at the 'low rent' movie outlet in my area.

For better or worse, I grew up an avid comic book fan (60's and 70's comics). I don't want to debate, cuz it would require spoilers, and it was just my opinion. Also, it's two different movie universes, so there's bound to be disagreement.

If you ever want to check out something surprising, and a little disturbing, check out the creator of WW and what her early adventures were like. That "golden lasso" will take on a different meaning.

It pops my synapses to see that this movie earned $455 million dollars over the weekend worldwide.
That's a lot of yuan and rupees and pounds and Euros and forints and shekels and whatnot.

I am just so not a fan of superhero movies.... but the rest of the world and I aren't exactly in sync on that. :p

Saw it on Friday. Would agree with StrongBad that it is fits in the middle of the MCU movies and since I have gotten all the other MCU Blue Rays I will also get this one. Mostly because I won't probably get Disney's streaming service so I will never get a chance to see it again if I don't get the Blue ray.

I am in much the same boat - with one exception: Deadpool is an absolute RIOT. Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast, and the humor is fast and dark - definately not a movie(s) for the kids...

I would sum the Deadpool franchise up as an irreverent middle-finger to the whole superhero universe.
Too much stuff to keep track of.
