I lost a wonderful friend today

It is with extreme sadness that I post the passing of our wonderful little friend. He was our 'little furball', our 'little buddy' our 'good little boy'...he was simply 'the best'. Gordie had major health issues, including diabetes and heart disease, and with the help of medications he battled through them like a little trooper. But the latest, which was very likely a large cancerous growth on his spleen, was more than he could possibly handle so we chose to let him end his life with a modicum of peace and dignity. Even though he wasn't a noisy dog the house is just so silent, it seems, without him. We are simply crushed. RIP Gordie and I hope you are finally pain-free and at peace. We love you.

    Thanks....an yep, that's what I called him numerous times daily. He was definitely my 'little buddy', all 5.5 lbs of him. He was my "Gilligan" for those of you old enough to comprehend :^ )

    Thanks everyone...this really helps with the closure. I don't deal with death very well at all. I've had to do this 3 times in the past 8 yrs with pets due to old age and I can tell the signs by now. I cried the whole way to the vet today because I knew already what the outcome was going to be. They all died in my arms with me blubbering like a baby. This little guy, even though he was just 5.5 lbs, had a 100 lbs worth of personality. He will be so missed.

    Thank you, my dear. The vet said afterward he would have done the same thing so that gives me a modicum of relief. But I would have gladly given my little buddy a few years off of my life if I could have.
