Mixed ohms?

I am running my little Ushers N-6361's a Polk CS20 off of a Yamaha RX-A1040. I have the Yamaha set to run 4 ohm speakers for the Ushers. The CS20 is 8 ohms, does this present a problem?

YES turn it back to 8 ohms and forget about it. That switch just strangles the power supply. Just do not get carried away with the volume and run the snot out of it.

Are you sure, I don't want to cook this AVR? I dont play too loud so I should be good unless tequila butts in.
I am running a PB1000 with it if that helps. -

The only reason there even is a switch is so that people who like to turn it all the way up can't turn it all the way up with 4 ohm speakers, because if they did, it would cook the AVR. assuming you don't want to turn it all the way up, it should cause no issues. I've found that with my old Onkyo integrated, the four ohm switch makes it sound dead and just not good.

Listen to the above, plus those Usher's are a very easy to drive 4ohms
And warning, while watching movies, don't forget to turn the sub ON....Halen accidentally left the sub off while turning on Interstellar....smoked one of his Usher CP7772-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

Yea put it back to 8 ohms, and do not go crazy with the volume.
The 4 ohm thing or 6 ohm in some cases, is to meet government regulations about heat and stuff, they assume people do not understand about high volumes and low impedance loads etc...(probably true). -
Interesting. So this is a setting in the Yamaha for system protection. Sounds like this works the opposite of how I'd expect when I first read this.I disabled signatures.

on many receivers there is a switch on the back panel by the binding posts. -
Interstellar in the black hole scene will test your subs/woofers to their limits for sure

Well that certainly made a difference. This room needs work but I dont feel like doing it. I am gonna decorate instead.

Anyway changing that setting opened things up. It no longer sounds constipated on some tracks.
