-11 here in on the Northeast side of Indianapolis. The sun is shining but unable to bring much needed warmth to the area. It is hard to believe any place else could be colder. But I guess I should feel fortunate I am not in Iowa or further north.

They're starting to talk about freezing pipes and dead batteries.

But nobody has talked about checking antifreeze protection levels.

I used to check mine and I think it was good to o*. that was years ago. I think I'll check all mine asap.

-4 in Central Ohio feels like -17...cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. 30 below regular temp right now not even including wind. They are saying maybe 40 above on Sunday and rain. That’s a 70 degree difference in 3 days. Only in Wisconsin.
  • dromundsdromunds Posts: 8,178
Weatherman just noted that since this time yesterday morning it was -60 below and Sunday may be 40 above, it’s a 100 degree difference in 4 days counting windchill! Unreal.

So it turns out the reason of low natural gas supply here is that a regional gas supply plant caught fire! Lot's of heavy gas users (assembly plants, etc.) are closed.

It's cold here (middle ga) but nothing like the upper mid West is seeing. I can't fathom the havoc those temps would cause in this area. Lots of people and animals would certainly not survive it!

I meant 34 inches give or take that extra 10 makes a difference from what I hear that clipper is already pushing through Waterloo and Cedar Rapids and heading our way temps have risen to -17.

Never a bad idea to have a back up heating plan, such as a generator and electric heater of some kind.
