Can I use my Polkaudio RT2000P speakers with my Yamaha RXA1070

If so. How do you hook them up... I'm new to this so I need answers... Thanks

You have two main options. First, there should be 2 sets of binding posts on the back with metal jumpers connecting the top and bottom left together and the top and bottom right together. If this is the case, you can simply run your main Left/Right speaker cables from the yamaha to the eithet the top or bottom set of binding posts (it doesn't matter which since they are connected. Run your receiver in pure direct mode or set it up so the main LR speakers are set to large. This is the preferred method for 2 channel music listening.

Second option. remove the jumpers, plug the speaker wires into the top set of binding posts (very important), and then run a long rca cable from the LFE output on the receiver to the RCA line level in on one speaker, then another rca cable connected to the line level out of that same speaker into the line level in on the second speaker. Go into your receiver menu and set the speakers to small with a crossover of 80hz and sub on, or just run the calibration setup. This is the preferred method for Home theater.

    Good luck!

The recommendation above is a good one if you don't have a separate subwoofer. If you do have a separate sub, a better approach is to remove the binding post plates and connect the top binding posts to the amplifier's left and right speaker outputs per the above post however, use the front speaker right and left pre-outs on the back of the AVR to connect to the line level inputs of your speakers. If memory serves me correctly from when I owned a pair of RT2000P's, I found the sweet spot on the speakers plate amp volume setting at just below the half way point. Reserve the subwoofer outputs on your AVR for the separate subwoofer. This will deliver a cleaner sounding lower end to your RT2000s in music mode and allow your sub to do the heavy lifting in HT mode without having to split the signal.

I've had these speakers also, and while the advice up the thread is good, you should temper your expectations if you want to use the speaker as your sub for movies.

The powered sub in these speakers is best used to augment the lower end of the speaker, not necessarily as a dedicated subwoofer. Adding a dedicated sub would be way more beneficial.

I love it when we take the time to give a flyby poster advice--to a terribly worded question that looks like it was composed on the can or at a stop light nonetheless--and then said poster never returns...surely he wanted to get this hooked up over the weekend???
