John, the link now takes you to a similar item so it looks like eBay took action on this schnoodler. I don't know why you've had such shenanigans lately but your luck has got to take a turn for the better.

It says it was ended by the seller. Looks like he took it down in a panic when they could not get in touch with me. They called me from a different number and I told them to never call or attempt to communicate with me again.

Damn the scum bag scammers all to hades. >:)

It seems he was going to have you professionally box them up for him and then he, without opening them ship them to the new buyer if he sold them on eBay before you sold them to him. Oh the humanity. Super flippers united! :s

I wonder if the Benjamin's would've be real.

I remember people wanting meet me to buy some things but NEVER called me. They wanted to do all interactions through emails. I always said I want a phone # ( that I can possibly track back. Nancy's good at that ) and to here a human voice so I can judge if it's an adult with knowledge of stereo stuff or if it's a kid playing games. I called the bluff of more than a few.

    Good stoppage John! ;)

780 transactions but 9 or ten negative in the past year. 98% rating.... I don’t do business on EBay with less than 100% people.

    98%
I believe 9 or 10 negative in the last year and maybe a little more in neutral ratings and several comments removed by ebay from buyers.

I guess when some people get established enough they figure they can roll the dice a bit and risk that rating (?). I have broken even on a few transactions but the 100% rating was more important to me.

I called a contact locally that claimed to buy and collect high end audio. I did not learn of his EBay handle until I spotted his ad for my amps.

So far it looks like no action will be taken by EBay against the seller.... total bs. If I didn’t use them for car parts and such, I would cancel my account with them.

I wonder if it's just the fact they won't disclose to you any actions taken. One can only hope they would penalize him in some way.

If he did this, safe bet he's likely to repeat. In hindsight, would be sweet to pay him the almost $10K then wait it out....that's a hefty fraud.

In the end... at least you still have them, who knows....he could have tried to scam you and you would be in another fight for the merchandise or the $$$.

The listing still shows up when you search for it. If they did anything, it would be pulled and unable to be found.

Because the seller pulled it, not because EBay took action. I want EBay to do something, but likely they won’t.

Like suspend his account and never let him make a new account? Yeah, that would be nice, but then eBay would be cutting out a source of their revenue.

Anyone remember when you used to be able to give a buyer a negative for bidding then not paying? Been years since that was an option. It's why ratings mean not much of anything anymore.

While I agree that that feature is missed and makes it more frustrating for me as a seller, eBay is a business and they wanted the buyer’s experience to be more like on amazon. sellers can’t give negative feedback there either. But you also have to just buy the item, no of this bid and don’t purchase crap...
