I have to go over to my Cousin's house. Thing is his wife is CRAZY, I mean they met each other cheating on the other's spouse so what do you expect. Worst part is that HER family is going to be there.

My saving grace is that my pops will be there so we will throw back some brews and take a couple puffs then talk about music, life and the nagging yet loved women in our lives.

    I'm a lucky one.

I ended up leaving my own house yesterday after eating. Wife's bro & wife were obnoxious to say the least. They cut me off 5 times during conversation. Didn't come back till they left. Won't be hosting at my place anymore.

I hosted here at my place and worked my a$$ off from 8:30am until around 10pm... I did all the cooking, followed by every effing dish, pot and fork. The wife and her sisters came and took over the cleanup at 7 or so, but an hour later nothing was done except for a bunch of talk.... I think I will encourage going to a restaurant from now on.

After dinner I ended up going to the casino for a bit. Didn't win nothing but didn't lose anything big. Had a good time.

Sister in-law wants to have a Christmas get together at her house.

Even Brown Dog said, "Oh Dave, sucks to be you buddy."

Just be thankful it's not at your house, Dave. Imagine having guests mistaking green tubes for Christmas tree ornaments? :o:p

    Funny you mention casino

Several years ago when the kids were about 11 and 12 they came over for Thanksgiving (at the time they were living with their dad)

I cooked a full spread with both Turkey and ham and all the fixin’s.
Well they did not hardly eat anything, and around 4pm asked if I’d take them to Jackn the box

Ohhhhh my Yosemite Sam side let loose under my breath, made mom deal with it and she actually took them grrrrr

Anyway the next year thanksgiving came around and they asked what I was cooking

    “Nada not a dam thing”

They looked at me surprised and asked “well what are you doing”

    Answer was
“I’m flying to Vegas Thanksgiving morning and letting the Hotel cook for me”
    And that’s what I did

They started eating after that when I cooked

Sorry to hear that John. :#

We had a family Thanks giving dinner here with a bunch of Nancy's relatives. Nancy and her daughter did all the cooking and prep work. They showed up, ate , and at the end of Thanks giving dinner, Nancy and her daughter remembered there was a ham still in the oven. Nobody ate any ham that day. :s

Well after everybody ate what was on the spread and then the table was cleaned off, they left. No after dinner conversations or spreading out to the living room and some to the cottage. Nothing. :/

    show up, eat, leave!

Well, we ( Just us 3 ) went to our local Golden Corral Buffet restaurant a few years ago and LOVED it! It's an all you can eat buffet restaurant. So it's become a tradition for us now. No clean up for any of us. :)

We did it again this year and the food was delicious! Better than the previous years. Then I went and picked up those Sonance amps. It was a great day for me.

Do you have a restaurant that serves the traditional Thanksgiving dinner near you on Thanksgiving?

I realize not everyone comes from a big family, but it's up to the adults to instill traditions on our youth.

My side usually doesn't celebrate thanksgiving together, we do Christmas eve. My wife's family does thanksgiving, and usually for 40-50 people. Everyone brings something, everyone cleans up after so we leave the hosts house as we found it. We liked to call that manners, respect, things that should be shown by example especially around the Holidays....from the Adults in the room.

Grab a Ziploc bag, some spam water and a blender. Mix water and spam pour in bag. Hide bag. Once arrived make a dash for bathroom and empty contents everywhere. Splash water on face and say you're not well.

There were 6 of my wife's family members here that definitely had seniority over us but they're the one's who I aim wth at.

I didn't say a word about it and my wife and step daughter took as nothing at all. Blood , you know. ;) I don't think my wife and stepdaughter even noticed what happened that year.

We do Christmas dinner at the stepdaughters every year. Her and Nancy cook up a great meal for the 3 of us. Football is usually on and the clean-up is done by both of them UNTIL it is done and leftovers are agreed upon as to what Nancy and I want for the next 2 days.

I do miss my family get togethers up in Va. but it is what it is. :s
