In recent weeks I’ve been having issues when I stand up. What’ll happen is, I’ll stand up, and then my vision will go black, and I’ll occasionally fall on my face after that. I’ve put up with it, thinking it would be a passing thing, but it hasn’t gone away, and it’s super annoying to stand up and then feel like your gonna pass out.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Micah

sounds like low bp -- but don't take medical advice from a PhD. ;)
... and it's not really cricket to ask MD's for free medical advice, you know? ;) That said, there are real MDs on the forum... not too hard to spot, either.

I plan on it, but I’m gonna wait because next month sometime I’m scheduled to go see them, and I don’t have enough money to go. My dad had this happen to him when he was a kid, so my parents think it’s nothing, but I’m still worried it’s not...

Blood pressure? I think my mom has something to check it... I’ll see about that later.
I didn’t think about that, sorry. :# I can delete my post if you want.

Also, I forgot to mention, this only happens if I’ve been sitting for more than 10 minutes or so. And, it doesn’t happen when I get out of bed in the morning. So it would seem only sometimes I guess...

Am I the only one who thinks this is fake? I mean really?
How many would black out and not go to the doctor like right away?
Hope you get the help you need if indeed you're suffering from this Micah, but it just doesn't seem really believable that medical attention wouldn't be the first thing on one's mind.

How much water do you drink a day? Any sodas?

I don’t black out, my vision just gets dim, and then it goes away. My dad had it as a kid, so I thought it was normal, but judging by his descriptions of it, this is way worse. It’s only gotten bad in the last week and a half or so, and I’ve only fallen over once. I haven’t lost conscious, simply balance.
Also, what reason would I have for lying to you guys? That’s the thing I don’t get about trolls and the like, what’s the point of tricking you, or stirring up the pot?

I have a 20 oz. mug from A&W, of which I usually drink 3 or 4 of a day... not soda, water.
I very rarely have soda, maybe once every two weeks.
I was going to try drinking more water, but I’m already drinking 40-60 ounces of water a day, so I don’t think I need more...
My math doesn’t line up there... 60-80 is what I meant.

Actually, you should drink 64oz of water per day *minimum*.
If you aren't peeing once an hour, you aren't drinking enough.

As for the dizzy/"brown out" of your vision, very likely a blood pressure regulation issue. As bad as high blood pressure is, low blood pressure can be serious as well.
    Go see a doctor asap.

Ok. I will, if I can convince the parents...
I’ll start trying to drink more water as well, see if that helps.

I'm not a doctor, I cannot say how much someone should drink...I have read on average (edited to change to) 1/2 oz per lb of body weight per day, more during periods of excercise.

Maybe get some blood work done to rule out any possible vitamin deficiencies.

I'm no nutritionist by any means.....but recently I changed up my diet, no sodas, maybe a cheat here and there, no restaurant burgers, cheesesteaks, pastries, basically cut my sodium intake by 75%.

Went back to making my own smoothies....kale, blueberry, granola, banana, 1/3 avocado, protein, apple, carrots....change up some greens and berries but I fill up a thermos and drink that for most of my work day, then add in some chicken or pasta.

After a week or 2 I never felt better, dropped my BP which was starting to creep up to 130 ish over 80, and dropped to 122 over 74, and that only took a month.

It was hard, but we're not getting younger. I do remember on occasion if I stood up real quick I would get just slightly light headed...nothing crazy, but haven't had that issue in months.

Point of my ramblings...get your self checked out and get a good diet if you don't have one.

Could be positional vertigo, which is an inner ear balance issue. A doctor is needed to diagnose that properly. Sometimes it will resolve itself without treatment, but it is a very common benign issue especially for those who have allergies. If that is what is causing the vertigo, it may go away but will return unless it is treated.

Holy cow, that’s a lotta water... I weigh ~220 pounds, so does that mean 220 ounces a day? Yikes. Will do. Or try to do.

I think this may be a big time possibility, I have the worst allergies out of anyone I know, no joke. Pretty much every morning I’ll spend around a half an hour just sneezing, once every 20 seconds or so. Pretty miserable.
    Thanks!
