    That woman is a moron.

It's not how much money you make, it's how much money you SAVE! You can make hundreds of thousands of dollars, but if you are in debt up to your eyebrows, and bill collectors at the door, and none of those thousands in the bank, it doesn't matter how much you make.

How many sports figures have we seen file for bankruptcy?

Interesting but I don’t think it’s accurate. Maybe it’s that country music fans are more honest about what’s in their bank account. Also consider the debt that can be accumulated to maintain a certain status. McMansions, luxury cars, audio stuff ans higher property taxes are hard on a bank account.

On the other hand the few true poor country folk are a different kind of poor, which can bring down that average.

The same for the well to do classical listeners a few very wealthy may bring that average up a bit.

The average doesn’t really paint a true picture.

That's why we also have median and mode ;)

As I would tell students (and folks who worked in my lab), if Bill Gates moved into my
neighborhood, the average (mean) income would skyrocket... but the median income wouldn't really change much at all :)

In fact, we used to have a cat who was grey on the average.

Totally made up article. Just so everyone knows the average income in the US is $58,000. Everyone can't be over average.

There might be a trend for higher income with Classical music. Just because the fans tend to be older and likely to have a higher income.

But Rap fans beating out Rock? I doubt it. My guess Rap demographics and would be lower earners than Country. Like someone mentioned its the New Yawk Post.

IMO, those that listen to all genres have less money in their pockets. Too much money spent on music and music listening equipment. Thanks to music streaming one can listen to anything out there for a small fee. Back in the only album, CD days I really had to limit what I purchased due to costs. Buying used and joining clubs got me more music for my money but I still could not afford all that I wanted to buy.

    As far as this...

As far as Rap demographics being lower than Country. That is easy to think as Rap has one of the youngest demographics of all. However, I think rap is more urban vs. rural for Country. Its the urban living that helps Classical lovers find higher paying jobs, the same with Rap. There is more opportunity in the city than out in the middle of open country. While they may be at the lower end in terms of income, the rap base is growing and has $500-$700 Billion in spending. Its a Genre that's not be be ignored.

Also, yes, I agree some of it is questionable. Rock and Country are still favorites in the US. However, the rap, hip-hop, R&B Genre is on the rise in popularity and consumption.
For the first time since Nielsen started measuring music consumption in the United States, rock is no longer the top genre in terms of overall consumption. Instead, the combined genre of R&B and hip-hop has taken the crown, and while the two styles are fairly close to one another when it comes to percentages, the latter has pulled ahead, and it seems like it will continue to distance itself from the competition in the coming months and years.

According to the report, R&B and hip-hop are now responsible for 25.1% of all music consumption in the U.S., while rock claims 23%. Looking at the rest of the numbers listed that dissect how people are consuming these styles of music, it’s clear that streaming is to thank for the swap in ranking. Rock is far and away the winner when it comes to album sales—the genre claims 40% of all album sales in the country—but the total number of records actually purchased dwindles every year, so while that percentage may remain steady or even climb, it’s not representative of how Americans are truly consuming music.

Hip-hop/R&B, on the other hand, is responsible for just over 29% of all on-demand streams across the country, and that is the only field that is growing noticeably. In fact, R&B/hip-hop is almost as popular on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music than the next two genres (rock and pop) combined. At least seven of the top 10 most popular songs on streaming platforms in 2017 fit squarely into the hip-hop field, while another, Bruno Mars' "That's What I Like," blends pop and R&B.
