New iFi Pro iDSD full-size DAC

For those that don't know, iFi is not just in the portable audio/headphone market. They are also in the high-end stereo game, but until now, most of those products have been under their other company name, Abbingdon Music Research (AMR). These were exceptional products and their CD-777 was one that I greatly enjoyed during its time here. The AMR DAC's were considered world class, and now much of that technology (and more) is being introduced to the iFi line at much lower pricing.

The Pro iDSD is a reasonably priced DAC at $2,499. Yes, its still a lot of money, but this is a lot of sound for the money. Yes, it does MQA.

WOW that is reasonable. Gunny was using an AMR dac I thought? If it sounds anything close to it, that's over 1/2 off the AMR version!

Essentially it is a competitor to the Altair, albeit a higher price point. I'm downloading the MUZO player now to see if I can get a sense for the app.

Sp apparently its like the AURALiC app where you have to connect to a speaker in order to operate it - most apps are this way so it doesn't surprise or upset me. Here is the website for the app:

So right now I'm not sure which app it uses exactly. I know the muzo app is produced by LINKPLAY which is who does the iFi gear, but it might be skinned differently.

I am very interested in seeing how this unit plays out from the app on down. Besides, I have some 6922 and seimens gold pins that need to be used LOL

Those little iFi DAC's are pretty good, but there is a massive void between those and the AMR. This falls closer in price to the iFi gear, but I imagine will be much closer to AMR in terms of performance. I've had some first hand reports that this is a beast of a DAC that performs well above its price point.
