Cancelled my order due to the fact the person at Tweeters customer service could not verify exactly what the hell I would be receiving.
I either made a wise decision, or pissed away a few grand.
So if anyone would like to score a pair of these “mystery speakers” their should be an additional 10 pair available.

Well I have a local Tweeter close by my me (10 miles away) , so I will go down a check these out in person . I wont be going down till about 3-4pm PST ; but I will report my findings on these T90EB's later tonight .
The real wood thing verses vinyl kinda pisses me off (if infact they are vinyl) , as the flyer ad DOES say WOOD . I bet these are just a revamped pair of Monitor 60's according to pics in the flyer my bro has . If these do turn out to be a vinyl version of the new Monitor 60's for $174.99 pair , then I'll be keeping alteast one set just for the heck of it . But we shall see .....

    Report back later .

    Went by Tweeter.

The had the T90e's 'sale tag' on the RTi10. I asked the salesperson to pull a pair from stock, so I could see them.

They are Polk boxes clearly labled T90e, but they are NOT RTi10's.

They are the 'Euro' version of the Monitor 60, and priced at $174 EACH (350/pair - half off the $699 retail).

That's the deal folks, plain and simple.

    Cheers,

I saw these at Tweeter today. They are silver and have the european model number on the boxes. Priced at $175 per speaker. They seemed to have plenty on display so probably got a huge deal from Polk on them.

Proof is in the pudding, or picture in this case.

Time to start breakin' em in. I'm thinking bi-amped, with a Carver TFM-6c on the lows, and a Radii 6BM8 Tube amp on the highs.

I demoed them in the store, on some VERY cheesy electronics, and thought they had GREAT potential, with the proper gear behind them.

I had NO problem plunking down $350 for a pair of them, and if you guys actually get a pair for under $200 - you have NOTHING to complain about. (actually, I'm hoping you early birds DO get pairs for $175, that's a STEAL)

    Cheers,

I may keep one pair for $175. Then again I don't have a ton of cash right now, and even that little amount puts me off quite a bit from where I would want to be eventually.

    So...

What makes a pair of speakers a europe version? I mean, they dont have a power cord....so....

and I doubt the speaker wire plugs up different...lol

    Maybe for organization purposes?

Breaking in now - started with White Stripes 'Elephant' 200g vinyl, now have Portishead 'Dummy' cd spinning.

Full review in a week or so - they've been playing for a couple hours, and are changing already. Another note, they seem MUCH more efficient than their specs - 90db? Pffft, I'd say more like 93-94 db - I'm hardly into my Melos line stage AT ALL

I always thought the Monitor 60 had a wierd design since it's a 2-way and all 3 woofers get the same signal. Usually you try to place the woofers as close as possible to get the lowest center-to-center spacing to negate as much combing as you can. Any noticable combing with these, Russ?

    *edited for errors and revisions*

Sorry for my late reply from my trip from Tweeter (family stuff arose till 2am) , but I concur with Russman's findings .

The T90e are identical to the to the Monitor 60's (as I also confirmed this by a seperate trip to CircuitCity for verification on against a pair of M60's) . Russ was also correct in that Tweeters price INSTORE was regular $699 PAIR , but onsale for $174.99 EACH (not the ONLINE price of $174.99 a PAIR) . I did notice too that the T90e are made with a vinyl covering and are NOT a wood covered enclosure . However , the vinyl covering was done very nicely and will not detract from from the speakers beauty at all ;and was infact was fairly hard to tell it was a vinyl covering at all ( and only evident until a VERY close up inspection was made) .
The Tweeter store I visited, did have a demo set hooked up for listening . I compared the T90e's (in a 5.1 setup) to a set of Rti10's and 12's with a CSi5 center , Velodyne sub , while only connected to a $200 Sony receiver ; all this while watching some demos , both dvd and music playing on a big sceen . I gotta say my first impressions of the T90e's sound were VERY VERY positive .
The T90e's sounded sweet while watching both movies and music videos . The highs were nice a clear with no real strain noticed even at high volumes . The midrange too was clean , and seemed much more pronounced then my RTi6's that I use as mains (see sig) ; this due Iam sure moslty to the extra driver compliment . Bass output was minimal , but again not strained ; as I DO also contribute this too the smaller driver size and the possble 5.1 settings on the said (demo) reciever the T90e's were connected to ( and with a Velodyne sub handling most of the base anyways) .
Lastly , the T90e's did not have quite have the depth of RTi/10/12's (as to be expected) , but still did a VERY nice and respectable job of it both in movies and music . TheT90e's did seem to match fairly well with the above listed speakers ,and better too then expected , specialy with the CSi5 .

I can honestly say I did not expect too much at first from the T90e's ; but left the Tweeter showroom with a new "high requard" for the little T90e's (Monitor60's) and the nice clean sound they produced with minmal power requirement to run them even at high volume levels .
My bother , who acompanied me on this trip ( and who is not really a Polk fan at all) was "throughly impressed" by the demoing of the T90e's (and thats saying ALOT) .

All-inall for the ONLINE price of $174.99 a pair these are a GREAT steal ; or even at the INSTORE price of $350 a pair the T90e's are a REAL bargin .
As things stand now , the T90e's just may replace my RTi6's in my small bedroom HT . Cant wait to try them out against my 6's .

If anyone is interested in a set or two , the Tweeter store in Temecula , Calif 92562 did have a few sets still available ( just not sure how many) all-be-it the price will most likely be $350 a pair .

(notice: due to my lack of sleep since yesterday , please ignore any stupid errors in spelling or content :p )

Nice pics too Russman , thx)

    or:
    4. Post at Club Polk... :D

A pair of "Monitor 60's" for $50 under CC's price on the Mon 50's doesn't sound too bad.

Obviously Tweeter leveraged their position with Polk to get a special budget model speaker in under the RTi's and LSi's that wasn't the same as the New Monitors... nice market segmentation there.

Agree with those hearing the potential in this line. "Mr. Polkie" spent three hours or so with the 70's and 50's at CC. I found the tweeters a bit harsh, even sibilent on some rebook CD's, but that was on an HK AVR (the 7300, as I recall). On other material they sounded great. As Russ pointed out, smoother electronics could well be the key to a very pleasant listening experience on the cheap.

The four, MW 70's were very authoritative, but with about 2 dB more encouragement from the HK, the dual, MW 50's were pretty much their equal, and with a tighter mid-range. While the 60's were not out for test listening, I can easily imagine them falling right in between sound-wise.

Hope you guys that ordered through Tweeter.com are truly getting them in pairs...
    More later,
    Tour...

Hey, if somebody ordered a bunch of these Monitor 60s at $175/pair and would be interested in letting a pair go, I'd really try talk my parents into it!!!

BTW, if I had placed an order early when they had the pic of the RTi10s, I'd fight my way through that; I don't see what they could do but give it to ya.

I have not received mine. I ordered four pairs, and likely will have 3-4 pairs to dole out to the masses here at Club Polk.

I emailed CS at Polk to see what the deal was. I figured I could get a straight answer about this ordeal from them, but I have not yet heard back.
