That's the golden age of some of the best hard-bop jazz. Here's a source that lists 100 top jazz albums. There are several best lists available, I just had this one handy. I like this jazz era too, but I like blues more than jazz. Enjoy. http://www.jazzwisemagazine.com/pages/jazz-album-reviews/11585-the-100-jazz-albums-that-shook-the-world?showall=&start=9

    Joe Pass
I saw Joe Pass at The University of Vermont back in 1977 or 1978. I was only about 13 at the time and a big KISS fan, but I really enjoyed him. :)

My avatar reflects that I am. Freddie Hubbard, although his career and arguably best or most groundbreaking work continued into the early 1970s.

Another name not mentioned yet is Art Blakey. An outstanding jazz drummer himself, but he also gave a lot of young musicians their start in his bands including The Jazz Messengers.

I recently discovered my interest in Jazz, when I received about 50 mini lp cd's. These k2 recorded discs sound incredible. I wish I had a better CD player to unlock their full potential.
