... Yeah, you know when I listen alone
I prefer to be by myself

Preferably with a really good beer, bourbon or martini - for all the reasons already mentioned.

I usually listen alone, but always welcome family and friends to come listen as well. Both choices are fun for me, I enjoy sharing my music with all, and also enjoy it when i'm alone!

Same here. Although my brothers (who live out of state) come over a few times a year and we crank it and enjoy.

My wife doesn't "get" music at all, so any listening with her is more background (Pandora, or streaming some mellow stuff on Apple TV).

When I want to really listen deliberately it's me alone in my 2 channel room, which doubles as my drum room (it's basically sound proof).

My kids are all musicians (one for a living) and they join me from time to time. Fortunately, they like the same stuff as me.

Get a couple sock puppets and give them female names, no sense in being alone ;)

Sock puppets are cool but I find the thick wool ones tend to degrage the highs. The silk ones tend to make the mids raspy and dont get me started on Argyle.

I look back at my previous post. More like 90% alone. I don't mind having drinks with a friend down there. Problem is there's a pool table in the room as well, so it attracts some strays sometimes.

Alone....when another person is present they always want to talk during a song, and then turn it down so I can hear them. Also like the room dark, eyes closed....so all your senses are concentrating on the music.

Always thought it would be cool if they could incorporate smells to go along with the venue on CD's. Musty smoke and booze smell for those small jazz venues, Weed and old sneakers for Zepplin songs. Only problem with that is your cdp will start smelling like a **** house after awhile.

Not really, think of the applications with movies and virtual reality gizmos. Standing in an alley, pouring rain....and you can smell that scene as well as view it. Walking into a bakery before a shoot out, smell of gun smoke afterwards. Smell of an ocean for beach scenes.

It's about adding one more of your senses to put you into a movie/music/game.

^^ I guess there wouldn't be a down side as long as the "gizmo" came with a on/off feature.

Back on subject though, calling all western NC folks. I'll be picking up the P5 Saturday That I purchased from Mr. Skip ( @DSkip ) himself I want to share the experience so I'm inviting everyone over for a listen. Just shoot me a PM if you are able to make it.

A few words about Skip; If anyone is planning on making a purchase or need solid audio advise Skip is a great resource. You can purchase with confidence.

Anybody remember the scratch and sniff Hustler centerfold about 1977.....lol.

Wait, what does that have to do with audio.

2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
