Question regarding the ignore list

When you put someone on your ignore list, are you still supposed to see their avatar when they post in a thread, as well in the "who's online" section?

I ask because for the first time in my 12-1/2 years here, I put someone on mine today.

And when I do, I want it to appear that they do not exist in my world...

Another gripe I have is when they get banned, they remain on your list and you cannot remove them. I have a dozen or so that are long gone, but still frozen in time.

Someone said something about you recently (can't remember who), and I have to agree 100% with them.

They said they'd love to have a beer with you someday. Where the heck do you live? B)

I did that once when I was a kid on my paper route on my way to collect. I'd just arrived at the first location, stood up to pedal up a hill, and that's when it happened. Had to ride all the way back home like that. Standing up, of course.
    I disabled signatures.
