You CAN drive them with just the avr if you cross them over at 60-80 hz. But that sure seems like a waste. I would either get the A5s with just the avr, or the parasound. With the parasound and the A9s you will have a sweet system.

If you haven't already bought them, I would pass on the Polk subs and go with one sub from SVS or HSU. $500 for one sub from on of those guys will give you more output and extension than both those polks FYI...

Yea, if your room has nulls or peaks it can help I think, but you don't need them for 2 channel music with properly powered A9s, and one really good sub will better them for movies. And you avr's EQ should help clean up the bass anyway...

You did better than a good job buying that. Probably the biggest improvement and best addition.

If ur filling a large room, go for the pb2000. The bigger ported sub will hit harder will slightly more output and extension.

U did good with the amp. Those A9s will sing!!!

I have owned SVS and HSU, and you really can't go wrong with either. but if I were buying new with a budget of $600-700, I would get this:

Or if you really want to up your game, go for the 15 inch vtf-3 mk5. The bench tests are pretty awesome for that sucker!

That's a better setup than 95% of people have for sure and as long as you give the Yamaha and Parasound room to breathe (don't put them in a cubby that only gives the component 2" of space above it and don't stack other components on top of them) they should last you a long time, they're both reliable brands.

Lots of research and articles on avs forum, and svs's website. There are advantages, but it depends a lot on your room.

Tosasung, nice job on the system. I have the rxa1050 and absolutely love it for a HTR. Tons of features that I actually use and I thinks it's a fine preamp.


I also have a Parasound 2250 v2. While it has all the power I could need (I run sda srs 2 and RTA12B between the a/b switch) I'm not 100% sold on the sound. I really favored the sound of my NAD 906 vs the Parasound. Not sure how to describe it. The Parasound seems a little on the bright side. I think after Christmas I will try a Yaquin CD3 buffer. Maybe that will give me what I'm looking for in my blues and classical music.

As far as the subs go.... I have never had such clean clear accurate bass as now. I have two Infinity Entra one 10 inch subs of opposite sides (front and rear) facing each other and off set just a bit. I think I have the phase reversed on one. My room is only about 14x13x 10 tall.

I used to have a upgraded M&K MX125 mk 2 in the front of the room ( a dual 12 inch push pull) and it was ok in here. Always thought it was great until I moved down in and put the two old infinities in here with the RXA.
