Starting my SDA SRS 2.3TL Restore

I've been a Polk Audio fan ever since I first saw and listened to a pair of SDA SRS 1.2's back in the late 80's but as an 18 year old, the $3500.00 price tag just kept me dreaming.
Recently I was at a friend's house for a bonfire. I went into his garage to get some more wood and notice some cabinets near the pile that I thought were some taller kitchen cabinets. I did't pay much attention but then turned the cabinet around to see what it was. Low and behold it was an intact pair of 2.3TL's. I asked my buddy why he was keeping them in the garage. He told me that he was going to take out the hardware and use the cabinets as firewood. I asked if I could buy them from him. He told me to take them, no charge - definitely the best bonfire I've ever been to.
I took them home and sweated by #$@ off getting them in my basement. I hooked them up assuming there'd be no sound but to my surprise, they worked. Two tweeters are dead but I didn't care much since I would be upgrading all 6 of them anyway.
I've been a part of this forum for about 4 1/2 years and have been amazed at how well this forum supports its members, especially it's SDA members. There's so much in here that a lot of my intimidation in restoring these speakers has turned into excitement. I just know that if I need help, the answer is here. I have a few pictures I'll upload just to show what I have. My plan is to upgrade everything possible and refinish the outsides of the cabinets. Years ago I owned a pair of Polk Rosewood LS90's and really liked the finish on those speakers. I'd love to bring a finish like those to the 2.3tl's.
I did a push test and realize that there is some air leaking but I know that will get taken care of in the near future. For now, I want to be able to know how to diagnose the issues that may exist with these and get some advice on the order of upgrading these as I won't be able to do all that I want at the same time.

Great pair of "Project" SDA's! I've used a small vacuum to suck the dust caps out before with good results. Just a little dab will do it.

@drumminman We'll, as far as upgrades go, I'm learning what's possible through thus forum. I know I'll upgrade the tweeters to the RDO198's and I'll need to reseal the cabinets based on the push test results.
I'm hoping to get some recommendations from the forum members as well. I've already gotten some direction from a few people - black hole 5, gimpod boards, Larry's rings, though I realize the he takes orders 1 or 2 times a year, gluing the magnets. I also want to lay new veneer on the cabinets and may replace the speaker grill material that's on the sides of the speakers with veneer as well since they have a strong cigarette smell.
I've read a number of your posts and have gone through machine's rebuild which I liked that has given me direct.

The grill cloth will take a good "scrubbing" with soap and water, if it's still attached well to the panels.
Take a Microfiber cloth and spray Windex on it to clean the mid-drivers/radiator in a circular motion, not applying too much pressure but enough to remove the crud build up. DO NOT spray the Windex directly on the drivers.
This will help remove the oders and clean things up as well. -
@Mike Reeter - Thanks for that advice on dealing with the cigarette smell, especially with cleaning the drivers. I was wondering how to clean the smell from them. I'm not a smoker which means that smoke scent stands out to me.

Better to smell a little like cigarette smoke than bonfire smoke
