Monitor 40s - tweeter issue

Hi,

A few months ago my friend's kid pushed the tweeter domes on my monitor 40s. I tried to "fix" the dome by sucking on them (lol). While they are back to almost their original shape, there is a crackling noise from time to time.

I'm assuming at this point I need to replace the tweeters. Are those parts available? I wonder if cost-wise it makes sense to replace them rather than getting new speakers.

I use them as surround speakers, and they actually are plenty for that purpose.

Thanks in advance,

- Olivier

A friend ?? Sounds like "your friend" needs to pony up the money for replacements By that I mean he can buy you new monitor 40's. Next time try a toothpick with a drop (one drop) of super glue. I would think they have them, but at about $30+ each, so you need to find out by calling them. New ones are going to be $129. Keep him away from the SDA's :-)

  • Olivier, this is Ken from Polk Audio Customer Service. The tweeters are available if you would like to purchase them. They are 48.00 a piece, that is Club Polk pricing.

You could always try a piece of tape to pop that tweeter out as well.
