Sharing USB audio device via Router's USB port

I'm not sure if this is possible but I'm interested in finding out. I have a Peachtree iDAC that has multiple digital inputs, one is USB. Is there any possibility of connecting this to my wireless router's USB ports allowing my computer to see it over the network and route audio to it without being directly connecting to the PC? I have a feeling it couldn't be this easy but you never know...

  • I've got a new router showing up next week so I guess I'll plug it in and see if anything magical happens!

Doubt it will work. The usb ports on routers are usually only designed to add a USB storage drive or a printer. Likewise, the DACs are looking for a USB connection to a computer. I guess it is possible though. It might work if if the DAC is DNLA certified, but that is usually through an ethernet port, not USB.
