    Been there, done that. I learned a long time ago that beer is like money. It is better to have more than less. :)

    I don't drink much but when I do...? lol

    Actually, I tailor my drinking to my friends, unless I am entertaining. Then I break out the fine cognac (my preference). But I drink beer with those who prefer it, tequila with those who have a taste for the fine agave spirits, Kentucky Bourbon (whiskey), or single malt Scotch with one of my best friends who loves the stuff.

    And, of course, there is always some wine for formal dinners with others. Although, I defer to a friend for the choice since I am not an expert here!

    Since most of this drinking is social in nature that means there is not a lot of it.

    I've learned to curtail it long ago. Spent too many nights bent over a guard rail barfing my brains out to ever want that experience again. Most my drinking is social also, but I do enjoy a nice glass of wine with dinner or a few beers watching football. All in all, I've learned when to put it down and stop.

    Not to get technical...but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution..... and a good IPA or 2 can, at times, be just as important to system synergy as a good pair of interconnects.

    Yeah, me too. Now that im older, don't get too stupid anymore, just fatter. The treadmill helps shed the pounds, but gettin hard to keep up.

    everything can be a rabbit hole.... age and experience have helped moderate some of my past errors in judgment . Now it is more fun to enjoy beer rather than being a beer user.

    Younger, I used to drink some every night. Now I only drink on Friday and Saturday night if nothing major is planned the next day. I still find relaxing with some beer and listening to music to be a very enjoyable activity.

    Been dry since 1993. Exception being one time when my wife wanted me to get a "fu fu" drink years ago on our anniversary. Even before taking that first sip my nose remembered the smell of hard alcohol. Funny, Everclear never smelled, he, he. Don't miss is it a bit...

    I was a 12 pack an evening guy, then a 12 pack and fifth of Makers Mark on the weekends. Been sober for 16 years, one day @ a time.

    I'm starting to cut back...

    Used to drink a few times a week. Recently it's at least one drink, every night. Getting easier to drink a lot.

    I opened a bottle of wine for the wife and myself yesterday afternoon, wife decided she did not want any. I ended up not really paying attention and drank the entire bottle myself. What alarmed me, I barely felt it...

    Told myself last night, it's time to cut back. Had nothing to drink tonight, and plan to drink nothing for the rest of this week. After that, cut back to a few times a week.

    My wife and I will open up a bottle of wine on Friday night or Saturday night. We have called it Porching it as we tend to sit outside (while the temps are still nice) on our front porch get in some cool fresh evening air and relax while the kids sleep upstairs. Yes we bring down the monitor for our youngest. Other than that we don't drink. I went pretty much 4 years without drinking when my wife was pregnant with our first. up to just this past spring.

    Go through a 5th of tequila a week. Helps take the edge off after a long day at work.
