Hey I know there are a few of you among us. I'm looking for a built for comfort not built for speed angling Kayaks sit in not sit on. I already have a couple of sun dolphins that I keep up north 14 ft sit on for cruising the lake. I'm looking for a couple to keep here for fishing. I need 2 ea of either of these any suggestions, or recommendations on another brand.

I like the Acsend a lot would have to make a 3 hour trip to Des Moines to get it at the bass pro shop the Old Town is available here locally we were in 5 stores in the area and it's down to these two I'm 6'4 230 lbs and have plenty of room in the old town I was at the Bass pro shop a few months ago and the Acsend while not as roomy is bad azz and I could see me decking one of them out.

They got some nice looking ones, I have only played with the sit on top ones as that is all there was. the rental company ran out of canoes so two of us had to use Kayak's and we all took turns playing with them. we had some young hot gals on them when we were going down the river who babysitted us old farts, when we would wipe out they chased down our canoes and things :) they gals had to be between 18-25 and they owned the water.

Yeah lots of babe's on kayaks at my Parents resort, the sit on one's are nice, not so in late September when the waters turn cold that's why I'm looking for a sit in sturdier fishing Kayak.

I think I've been in that old town one before, and was good. I know a lot of guys back in NC used that one for fishing since it was sold locally. Any smallerish stores in the area that allow for a trial? I know some will have loaners that they'll rent to you for a day to try out. Me? I'll stick with my monster 17 foot canoe.

Most of the Marinas around here stock the more expensive ones with rudders and all the bells and whistles sit on one's built for speed. I don't want to spend 1500 for a kayak plus I already own two sit on even looking at the two sit ins I'm interested in you figure paddle not included or anchor that brings the price up to about $700 each after taxes, talk about another rabbit hole you should see some of the accessories for these angler types one could spend some cash with all the add ons.

I have four kayaks - all sit in, none fishing though. They range from 12'-15' and one's an open cockpit tandem. A lot of the primo rigs around here use sit-on for fishing - but since you have some sit-ons already - I've admired this one in store a few times, seems like a decent rig for a sit-in fisher

    http://t.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11279269&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.32954906

If you're not looking for a dedicated fisher, I've had this boat for the longest, and it's still the most comfortable, stable and easy loading kayak I own. I've fished from it, and taken it loaded to the gills on a 3-day overnight. Get's great reviews too - and is relatively inexpensive. Perception Conduit 13. Worth a look if you don't want dedicated fishing.

    http://www.paddling.net/Reviews/showReviews.html?prod=2924

Last - a buddy has one of those fully rigged Hobies, fishes open water in the Chesapeake Bay for stripers from it - not for the faint of heart, but man, he's got thousands in that thing, enough to get a regular powerboat!

Around here, you can't beat Craigslist for used kayaks, as long as you know what you're looking for, three of my four came from there at at least 50-75% off retail.

Hey thanks for your opinions the Old Town Vapor is the one I might end up getting, they appear, to be the one with the most room for someone that's 6'4, Dunham Sports have them on sale for $399 for the Vapor and $499 for the Vapor XT, I was told they are getting the Perception angler in the next couple of days so I want to check that one out.

You bet - I'll say this, I have two Perceptions - they're great boats, but more importantly both of mine have large cockpits for larger folks, unfortunately in my case it's for width not height @gudnoyez ! I think Old Towns tend to be the same, large cockpit which you'll def want. Great price on that at $399 tho!!

For fishing I like sit on top. Nothing special but first catch of the year. I live very close to a 300 acre lake where I caught this today. I really like fishing rivers. I mainly do the north branch of the Potomac. Smallies. I have a 12 foot Cobra kayak that I got off of CL a few years ago for a steal. 33ua1ytp4mmf.jpg

Not as nice as the one you hauled in, that's my grandsons first lunker we didn't have our cell phones with so instead of releasing it I let him bring it with he was afraid no one would believe him the only condition was he had to eat it so a little shore lunch and now he knows why we release them they are not the best eating.
