...and all my wife is doing is rolling her eyes and shaking her head.

Primary mission accomplished.

Running a PC12-NSD in the front of the room now and then a 20-39 PCI in the rear of the room.
Played around a bit with them but definitely need to get it all dialed in.

Former PC-Ultra owner here, with a pair of SVS Cylinders in the house, you should have the lower end covered!

I used to run 4 20-39 PCPlus's. Now I have a pair of PB-12 Plus-2's. It is not possible to have too much sub capability. Just like any other speaker, if your system cannot reproduce the signal sent, you just won't hear (or feel) it. If the signal runs to 19.5kHZ and your speakers give up at 18kHZ, it simply isn't there..you won't notice it isn't there until you one day hear the source material on a better system (If your ears are that good, of course). Try Dark Side of the Moon on a nice SACD-equipped system..we've all heard it a million times, but there's 'stuff' there you'll hear for the first time ever.

My space is giant comparatively. I have to pressurize the living room dining room and kitchen. One sub could almost do it. Two does do it. I am hardly the first to do this as most theater systems these days are running two or more subs.
My in room eq curve is a little hot on the bass side but that's how I like my movies and the rest of the curve is pretty danger flat for a giant echo box of a space so I am doing something right.
Plus, it's just cool the flex drywall. ;)
