More motorcycle racing!

Brand new angle I tried for the races this weekend. This was one of the coolest vids I got from my 7 races. This was in the super bike A class, meaning major modifications (engine, wheels, brakes, etc) are allowed, as well as it being the 1000cc class. I was on my zx6 with stock motor on pump gas.

This was a combined race with novices and experts, where the experts start a few seconds before the novices do. I'm currently in the novice class. I was able to get the hole shot in a field of 750's and 1000's. Another really fast novice on a 750 got around me after I was trying to put experts between me and him. A little later on, I tried making a pass down low and got the door shut on me when another novice went high and passed us both...doh!!

I ended up finishing 3rd in my class. Not bad for a 600!

I wanted rear facing so I can see where people are making ground on me. I like it where its at because, like you mentioned, it'll hold up well in a crash since it's pretty well protected. I had it on top of my tail and I kept braking the mount from kicking it when i got on the bike :(

Still at it as of now! It's a double edged sword that I did so good. On one hand, it was a lot of fun and the tire contingency money will come in very handy, but on the other, I hope I didn't inadvertently put myself in the running to be moved up to the expert class next year. In my 7 races, I finished with (4) second places, (1) third place, and (2) fourth places. Normally, I only do 4 races, but the next race is going to be the last race ever at my favorite track, Texas World Speedway, since they're turning it into a neighborhood :(

I was hoping to do a full season next year and compete for some championships, but if I get moved up to expert, with the addition of losing my favorite track, I'm unsure of what I'll do.

geesh who needs a neighborhood more than a race track?
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. *enabler mode activated* Move on to WERA and race regionally. ;) Good stepping stone into running a few MotoAmerica rounds *enabler mode deactivated*

Got a young friend up in the Minneapolis who started with running CMRA at Brainerd then ran USGPRU on his Moriwaki 250. Moved up to regional in CCS and then ran the whole AMA Supersport season last year. This year he is hoping for more than his one podium at Barber.

And I remember scrapping with him at track days when he was 12.

Ha! All the CMRA racers that go to WERA always whoop up on those guys ;) Colin Edwards and Ben Spies both started in CMRA.

But anyway, all of that costs money, which I don't have, lol. This sport is expensive :(

I have been out of the streetbike loop for a while. My last new bike was a 2006 R6 raven. Anyways I find it interesting that the R1 has received two major makeovers since then while the r6 is still largely the same after 9 years. Love the Daytona675 btw. As I said I've been off of bikes for a while but that 675 used to be the bees neez of the middle weights. Personally I want another speed triple or a fz-09

Yeah, it seems for a while there, updates were happening every 2-3 years. Now its 4+. I have a feeling the r6 is going to get a pretty substantial update in the next 1 or 2 years, it's long over due. I hope they can't squeeze more power out of it though...haha. It's not having a power advantage!

Awesome! I'm going to CotA this weekend to instruct. Coming back with an enclosed trailer

I can't play much though, next weekend is my next race weekend. Last thing I need is trying to mess around and wreck...haha. I'll have quite a few more opportunities this year to go back to CotA though. I think we're hosting 5 weekends there.

Wow, Farrell is hanging right in there with the best of em. I always been a fan of Herrin, however, since he went pro back in 2006. That kid was tearin it up at 16 years old.

Jason started off fantastic battling for the lead with Geoff, Josh and Steve...but he crashed shortly after the second red flag and has been running around 30th or so ever since.
Scott had issues but not sure what just yet...he dropped out completely early on.

    Ouch :(

On a better note, I left my mark on CotA! Literally, I scratched the pavement in T1 when I decided to throw my bike down at half a mph. "Listen students, this is what you're not supposed to do" I was fine, bike was fine, got up and finished the session. Rest of the day and Sunday were perfect though! A friend of mine will post a video as soon as he's done editing it and I'll post it here.

On another bad note, weather isn't looking too promising for the races this weekend :(

Circuit of the America's from this last weekend. I'm on the blue 512 bike with the white helmet. The video changes between my front facing camera and another instructors front & rear facing cameras.

ugh, weather is getting worse for this weekend :(

Now we're up to 100% chance of t-storms on saturday and 40% on sunday (when my sprints are). Looking like I might miss the last TWS round ever :(
