4 shot software update.

So I've read that there was supposed to be an update to address the mic problem. Was this update ever released? I assume not since that's why the boom mic is being given away. I talked to customer service and was told I won't be able to get a boom mic until after November. I really like the 4 shot but I don't think I can put up with people not being able to hear me until December. Sadly I am thinking of returning them. So any news on an update soon might make me change my mind.
