Yeah, an all analog forum would be great! Of course, iPhone & laptop users'll have to upgrade to one of these:

That's true, mhardy. In fact, a background check shows that that Heathkit computer had never been subject to a documented hacking attack which, in today's climate, is one of our main concerns.
The Powerpoint presentation that the Heathkit representative gave strongly stressed that point. We were all very impressed (very pretty presentation & the coffee & doughnuts were to die for).
Also, the representative pointed out that there was a large on-line community of Heathkit users that would help us with any technical problems that we would encounter.
Some of my group preferred actual vendor support, but the Heathkit representative pointed out that that would cost enormous sums of money (like $349 !!!). Luckily, we of the penny-wise majority were able to ignore their input.

What finally caused us to reject the Heathkit was that it wasn't really Twitter-enabled to the extent that we liked. And we needed super Twitter-enabled computing because .....
...... uhm ........... well, everybody else is doing it so we have to, too.

Our search committee finally decided on

    ossac3twmou4.jpg

The Radio Shack guy said that the TRS-80 was the Model III which is, of course, two more than the Model I and one more than the Model II. He didn't really explain what that difference meant but he did point out the coffee and Danish table in the back of the room which was most impressive !
Also, he did pass out RS Cards that entitled us to a FREE BATTERY (after every 10 battery purchase) !!

So, we're wisely going with the TRS-80, Model III. According to Timmy (pictured), you can download a free computer game called "Kroz" that is just downright spiffy.

Some of our group pointed out that the TRS-80 doesn't really have a robust "SNARKY" filter. Most of us agreed, though, that "Who Cares ? Did you taste the Danishes ?" so wisdom ruled the day.
    And we'll be Twitter-enabled.

I just imagined analog hacking, and spewed Rwandan black tea (with milk and sugar) all over my teletype!

Jess we can scream until we're blue in the face DEI has made up its mind and we who have pushed and helped build this place(excluding myself) have just been given the finger.

Yeah, time to move on. Unfortunately with the lack of traffic to this forum I will probably spend less time here. I don't find the need to check the forum more than once a day. Honestly the less I am involved with this forum the less I am interested in Polk in general. It's kind-a weird, but there seems to be a correlation. So I will "move on" to other forums and perhaps other brands.

No shame in that, many members have moved on to a more "higher-fi" forum. Matter of fact, you'll find many members still here who have moved on from the Polk brand but stay for their vast knowledge of all things Polk and the relationships they've built over the years.

That means naught though to the powers at be. Someone else coined the phrase, "Fisher-price" and it kinda seems fitting in my book. After all, it was the old members and a handful of Polk corporates who built the forum to what it was. Aside from Ken, most of those Polk people are gone too.

Oh well, sh&t happens and change occurs and not much anyone can do about it. That's why we have a variety in life, choices....why some companies have staying power and some don't. Life will continue on as it did before the Polk forum existed and long after it doesn't.

It's a shame. The old data base is probably gone, and now we're left with broken links, missing photos, and "Fisher Price" format. I guess that's the age group they're trying to entice here.

That's what made this place special isn't it ? We appear to be a bunch of high school chums hanging out talking audio and other junk. You won't get that with the age group Polk is aiming for. They don't have the attention span for it.
