The KT series tubes look cool because they are a lot bigger and they have a few extra watts. To me they don't sound as good as the EL-34's. Not a lot of tube magic.

When you change from EL34 to KT or vice versa (I forget which way) you have to add a resistor some where too.

I remember reading something about this. Like Madmax said, you need add a resistor somewhere. A lot of people like the EL34 for its "romantic" sound. The amp was designed for EL34/6CA7 output tubes. I think modding it for KT tubes could change the specs in certain areas.

You should order a new pair of NOS 7119 when you get the chance. NOS are becoming rare. The price of the JAN 7199 jumped $7 since I got mine. Mullard 5AR4 are going up in price as well. I'll have to order spares. This disease is killing me.

Anything you can buy now you should. NOS Tubes overall have gone way up since I got into it a few years.
