Anyone else as happy as I am that baseball has begun? RED SOX of course are kings

As a old time baseball player I still get excited for the game. I used to pitch for the A's and that's on of the reason that I have a rotator cuff injury.

Yankee fans are more than free to cry all they want and ask the dumbass question. Yeah yeah I know- how many world series did the sox win and how many the yankoffs won.

Finally some warm weather and beer and I am all set.

Now, in a couple months I can spend my day raking quahogs in Charlestown Pond and eating the little ones on the spot.

OK I'll stop rambling and bragging about clams and the Red Sox and New England.

Time for another cocktail :)

Even though I'm a born-n-raised STL'n, The Red Sox were the better team, no doubt. They came hungry, and they won it.

yeah great..another year where the same 4 teams rule.

As a Twins fan, I get tired of no chance at free agency to get a great player. Or if the Twins happen to draft a player that turns out great, that player will just leave for more money in their prime. Can't outbid Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, Rangers..

Not saying those teams are doing anything wrong, but doesn't mean I should get excited about current rules in MLB.

Love the game, hate the fact that big markets will rule 95% of the time.

by the way..yes. I am aware that the Twins mgmt is beyond terrible..

There is more parity in baseball than there has ever been. The Yankees pay more in luxury tax, distributed to the smaller market teams, than they payroll of some of the smaller market teams. The Houston Astros just beat the Yankees in the first two games of the season. If you want your team to be able to afford the best players, go buy tickets.

LOL..We just paid for an awesome stadium..ownership lied about spending money. I'm not giving them another dime. As a Yankee fan of course you like the current rules...you get to buy all the great players. From my team. awesome. Like I said..Yankees aren't doing anything wrong. I just can't get excited anymore.

Who did we buy from the Twins?

I actually don't like the current rules, I'd prefer to see a hard salary cap. Payrolls continue spiraling upward along with ticket prices. But as a season ticket holder who spends a lot of good money going to the games, I expect and demand of my team that they do whatever it takes to put a quality product out for me to enjoy.

As for your new stadium, that was very poor implementation. That place is so huge that your stud hitter can't hit home runs there. That's taken a lot of wind out of the team's sails. You guys should do what the Mets did - bring the fences in, and rev up the offense. The pitchers would hate it, of course....

And the Yankees are not the only ones buying the great players. Look at what just happened to the Yankees with Cano - plucked away by the Seattle Mariners of all teams. They will regret that move very quickly. Cano is a great player, but one bat does not an offense make. They don't have the funds to add anything more than they already have, and what they have will not be good enough to put enough butts in the seats to justify what they're paying Cano. The Cano deal will go down as one of the worst signings in the history of the game, and may even sink that team financially.

You are correct..I don't think the Yankees are buying any Twins..and I'm not picking on the Yankees..more big markets in general. but there were about 5-6 All Stars last year that all used to be on the Twins. The Twins are screwed with Mauer. The year of his free agency, he hit like .340, with 28 hrs..and was the best catcher in the game. If they wouldn't have signed him, fans would have lynched ownership, because he's also from MN. Since then, he doesn't catch anymore and barely hits 10 hrs a year. So you have a singles hitter who plays first base and DH making 20 million a year.

Look at the rest of their lineup...yuck.

Yup. That was a Catch-22 signing. They couldn't not sign him, and signing him was a dud. I still say he'd be in a much better position if that place wasn't so cavernous.

But the Mauer signing is nothing compared to our ARod signing!
