Anyone here own one? I don't need a big truck, and I am looking at getting a 2014 TRD 4x4 off road double cab, I'm hoping to have it this weekend..

My Lexus has 226k miles on it, it's starting to leak oil a little more all the time, and it's starting to get to the point where I keep putting money into it to keep her going, don't get me wrong she has been a great car, and still runs good, but I am ready for something new, and I would like to have a truck when I need it..

I have 2010 4X4 doublecab. I love it! I had a 1997 extra cab 4x4 before it. I sold my 97 with 250K miles on it and never had a lick of trouble. It was still on the original factory alignment when I sold it! Everytime I got new tires I told them to check the alignment on it and it was never out of spec. I put a lot of serious off road miles in the southern Appalachians as a fly fishing guide on that thing and it blows my mind it never went out of alignment. The doublecab is the perfect size for me. I can load up both my labs, a buddy, and all of our gear and still have enough room to be confortable, yet its still small enough to get through some tight, twisty trails. I'll probably always have a Taco!

My Lexus has never needed an alignment as well, and still drives straight down the road, sure I don't go mountain climbing in it but I do live in Colorado and anyone that lives here knows how hard the roads can be on your car..

    Thanks!!

Have a 2006 ext. cab 2wd with 4 cylinder. Get 21 mpg in town and 28hwy. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

I've always loved the smaller body size Toyota trucks, especially with a little bit of a lift on them. Anyone remember the Toyota Hilux 4x4 from the first 'Back to the Future' movie? That was my dream truck for the longest time and even today I think it's one of the better looking trucks that has been made.

I think you will be happy with it. My uncle has 2013 tacoma trd off-road 4x4, he says prefers it the 2012 tundra off-road he traded in for it and he is very particular with his trucks.

Great truck. My dad has had one the last few years and it has run like a top. I bought a 2013 4runner last year, and honestly got every single bell and whistle I could have wanted. I don't think you can go wrong there.

Consumer Reports is worthless for just about everything. I can just about always find more meaningful reviews and ranking for a given product category by taking some time to research online.

I've owned Toyota trucks since 1975. We currently have a 2009 Nissan Xterra, because we felt like we couldn't afford a new Land Cruiser. After a class-action suit, Nissan has owned up to a defective radiator/transmission cooler interface & extended the warranty to cover repair on its failure. IF it doesn't fail before then, we will likely trade it in before that point.

    vs Toyota service campaigns:

We had a '92 Toyota pickup which was made out of 2 totaled wrecks, w/>134k miles (at time of purchase in '97). Toyota had a service campaign on defective V6 head gaskets & replaced those at NO CHARGE in 1999. The catalytic converters, O2 sensors & assoc. exhaust on our 1988 LC were replaced at NO CHARGE in 200? (parts > $1500).

Have ~ 90K on our 2000 Tundra Extended Cab LTD TRD 4X4. Had our import mechanic put a new timing belt & water pump in a couple of years back. He's "serviced" it since new. Says ALL of his Tundra customers are happy owners. Recently checked the log book . . . . filled the gas tank twice in 2013!

I would think you should have a similar experience with a Tacoma. Wife's coworker has a 2012 2WD 4-door he's very satisfied with.

A recent shot from the rear of my Yota the year before tacoma's came out model. it still runs even in -25 temps it has always started and is still in good shape no rust (I baby It). Buy Toyata trucks with confidence they really are bullet proof. Make sure you get an extended cab me at 6'4 235 lbs barley fits in an extended cab. If you are over 6 foot don't settle for a standard cab.

I looked at a few tonight, and I think I'm sold on the TRD Sport Long Bed 4X4, the only problem is there are not that many long beds to choose from. There are a ton of short beds....

Consider the Tundra. Fuel mileage with the newer 5.7 is much better than the older v-8, roomy cockpit and just much more capable...and they don't seem to rust.

Too true. I used to own an extended long bed F-150 and I really had to think ahead about where we were going before I picked up the keys. Smaller trucks are much easier to deal with and still very practical for most jobs.

Well I just got home with my new Taco, I went with a 2014 TRD off road 4X4 short bed, and I went with black. I'm very happy with it, and I'm very glad I didn't get the long bed, it's just not needed, and in the end I did not like it..

Nice. I miss my Tacoma. Have a double cab Tundra now, and while it's a great truck, it is a beast.

Does the TRD Offroad Tacoma still come with a locking rear?

    Nice TRUCK !

I was thinking about your choice of a long bed yesterday while I was out driving around in my 4-door 2002 Vitara. The Vit has sidelined our Tundra to hauling duties (hence 2-fillups in all of 2013).

I think you made the right decision to downsize the bed length. I still prefer the looks of our 2000 Tundra w/ARB bumper to all other Toyota truck body styles. Now, IF they brought out a diesel, I might change my mind . . . .

Toyotas are alot like SDA's. Great in stock form but when modded are taken to a higher level.

Monday morning call your Toyota dealer and order a TRD supercharger. Let the upgrades begin!
Bought a new 4Runner in 2000, had the dealer install the supercharger and still have it 14 years later.
