My first set of cans!!!! Grado SR255i's. I was originally shooting for the 325i's but after much research and for my usage, I ended up saving a hundred bucks went with the lower end.

There's a 30 day trial, so if worst comes to worst.................
Set up:

Marantz AV8802A - Sources: BRP Panasonic 9000/CDP Emotiva ERC 3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-6, XPA-2 x 2 - Speakers: Focal/PolkAudio, Mains/2ch - Kanta No2, C - LSiM706, SS - LSiM702, WS - RTiA9, RS - RTiA9, FH - RTiA3 - Subs: Epik Empires x 2

Cables: AQ McKenzie XLR's from CDP to AVP to amp for 2ch, Emotiva XLR's for the rest - Douglasconnection: Furutech Alpha 36 12g speaker wire for 2ch, Furez 10g speaker wire for the rest - AQ Forest48 HDMI for the display, AQ Carbon48 HDMI from BRP to AVP - VR3 filtered power cables for CDP, BRP and AVP, Emotiva power cables for the amps - AudioQuest 505 power conditioner.

    The 225's are the king of $$ vs sound in the Grado line up.

    Thank you for the kind word, I agonized over the 225 vs 325 and gathered that for the xtra 100 the minimal jump in sq didn't warrant the buy.

    I had the SR-80, which I enjoyed for many years, then upgraded to the 225i. It was a very nice improvement. I also found the 225i the sweet spot when it comes to performance for price.

    The 225i's showed up. First initial impression; very nice, clear and detailed. I already knew these were open backs so there's no noise cancellation but that doesn't concern me since I listen to 2ch in solitude.

    I have no dedicated amp as of yet, but straight off the Onk 807 is providing great sound.

    As a bonus, I was pleasantly surprised to see an XL Grado T-shirt with my order.

    When watching movies, I can utilize mono, stereo and DTS surround, with music, mono, stereo and pure audio.
