HT Minor reconfig

So when I got home today there was a fedex sticker on my door. Which means my 703's will be here. Holding to my theory of moving my VR3 LSi 9's to the HT i decided ... wtf might as well do it today, and did. I have never spent much time listening to music thru the HT, but after running audessy just started listening to some smooth jazz stuff, I am very pleased at how full it sounds and will probably now be doing a lot of tweaking as listening to cd thru the OPPO BDP-93, and even the streaming sources on the AV. The noticeable difference is the the VR3 9's add their trademark warmth and accuracy while still not clashing timbre wise with the non modded other LSi's in the room.

I'm gonna throw Iron Man II in the BDP and skip to the Monte Carlo GP scene, as that is one of my favorite HT tests. Guess i better do it early or I might get a visit from the po po.

Anybody considering an AV Pre Pro should really include the Marantz AV 7701 in their evals... This thing is sweet...It really matches up well with the rest of the rig.

Did you put the Fortress LSi9s where the LSi15s in your signature were? I am currently set up as a 3.1 LSi9, LSiC, MicroPro 3000 driven by an Onkyo 5007. I definately noticed a drop in front stage wrap around when I put the stock LSi9 in place of the Fortress modded LSi9. How are the 9s doing in comparison to the 15s if that is where they went?

I too got the "door tag" notice when I got home. Except the driver forgot to scan his message into the fed ex system so I could not re-route them and I could not stay home today. Hopefully I will get my stuff Saturday.

Iput them the sides where the LSi 7's were. I have a 7.1 config, I am sure they are overkill on the sides, but for music they complimented the configuration fine.

Mikey, how's the 7701 for 2 channel music? What did you replace and what improvements did you notice?

So I have used the 7701 in 2 channel mode with the LSi 15's and they sound sweet. the family room has a vaulted ceiling so it sounds better in the 7.1 than in the 2.1 modes. The amp has huge amounts of power and headroom. I do use the zone b of the 7701 in the 2 channel rig, and the dac is very good, and gives me a lot of options. The build quality from Marantz is excellent.
