FYI There is no such thing as a "Polk RT5000p".

There was a Polk RT5000 system which consisted of a pair of Rt3000p 2-pc. powered towers, a CS1000p and a pair of f/x series rear surrounds but no RT5000p.

    Doesn't exist.

And your handle says it all doesn't it?

I've met gatecrasher. An accomplished scientist and a nice guy. I always try to remember a study I read years ago that stated that 87% of communication was non-verbal when speaking face-to-face. Email does not allow us to access the 'other' 87% - just the 13% that is in the words alone. Summary? I don't think gatecrasher was trying to insult - just educate.

It's usually pretty obvious when I'm actually trying to insult someone.

If you have to think about whether I am or not... that usually means it wasn't a personal attack. I'm not that sly.

So I'm a scientist huh? Is that of the "rocket" variety?

    lol

Bill, I totally don't understand why no one hasn't grabbed this awesome speaker system at this crazy low price, you're practically giving them away.

Your price is crazy low, good luck with the sale. I don't think that people realize the rt3000p fronts alone are worth every penny of the $1000 you're asking (originally~$3600) and throw in Polk's best center ever made along with those KILLER surrounds. Just crazy. I think this setup is a steal at over twice that price. But even a steal relative to market value.

Yeh, and at that price I'm in the hole with the setup. No takers for a nice set of Polks and if I said free, I would have to beat them off the door step. Should take them to the backyard and with my Kriss Vector shoot the **** out of them!

    Hi bsoko,

I clicked on your link to avs for pix, and it looks like the rt3000p sub bases are rosewood and the sats are black RT55's? The CS1000p is black, also. Is that correct?

And the FX1000p's are Rosewood as well. It's a put together system with speakers that I bought separately over time. Later during the production run of the RT5000 system, they did use RT55's as mains due to not producing the original mains. I've heard both and I like the 55's better.

Is there a link? I'd be curious to see it because I've never heard that before.

I purchased a RT5000 system around 2002-2003 and was told it was from the final production run. The woodgrain in the veneeer wasn't quite as nice as some of the earlier RT5000 but they were still very nice and included the correct RT3000 satellites.
