Best Buy has been running specials for a pair of dxi650 speakers for 40 instead of 100. Picked up a pair for the rear doors of my wrx and they sound pretty good.

That $39 deal at BestBuy for the DXI650 seems to have ended today.
I have also been looking for a set of decent 6.5" and this is what I have concluded...
Amazon is pretty much your best bet.
    Choices of models include:
    DB650
    DB651
    DXI650
    DXI651
As far as I can tell the above four models are essentially the same sonically. They seem to have been released over the last few years in the order listed above, starting with the oldest on top. They differ in the color of the cone and look of the grills and all but the latest DXI651 (which is not even listed on Amazon as of yet and only shows up on crutchfield if you search for it explicitly - not when you browse) are stated as marine grade (meaning they can hold up to the rigors of installations on boats).
As far as I know the Polk's above are all very efficient with 92db sensitivity. That means you get a lout of volume out of them with a given amount of power. That same amount of power in say in a comparable price/performance Alpine SPS-610 with 88db sensitivity would result in a noticably lower amount of sound. But the Alpines can take more power and really shine if you have a dedicated amp to drive them. I have not heard all of these but my gut feeling is that they are all decent and pretty similar sounding, so it is a toss up as far as which to get. If you are willing to pay over $100 for a set then consider the Alpine SPR-60 as a significant step up (but also in the 88db sensitivity range like the other Alpine model mentioned and much better when driven with a dedicated amp).

Best Buy and Crutchfield both have the DXi6501's for $149.00. Just got these in my Honda Passport and they sound awesome!

or you could search one in ebay too..

if you do buy via ebay here are two tips... 1) no ebay seller is an authorized polk or alpine dealer and so their is no manufacturer warranty (which may also be the case for some Amazon sellers). 2) the seller called x-sounds is, to be polite, less than honest. avoid him.
