Sure ... But they can't necessarily be identified as the ones who have been sitting around in the room the longest.

No, but you get the basic point...
The people more educated about whatever we're talking about should be the ones making the decisions... -
I thought a little more about this today. I think Wangotango has been gone too long. I mean the fact is that if people are not on here trying to rip you off who cares whether they list their ebay auction links or not? Not too long ago we had a few people here ready to take your cash and leave you holding the bag. At that time it seemed questionable whether they should be thrown off the site or not. (crazy, yes. True, yes). We even had some loosers taking up for them and their right to keep doing it. This link stuff is nothing compared to all that mess... In other words, does it even matter??

So it matters that much to you? You don't want to hear of that great piece of equipment up for sale that you have been salavating over? You don't want to hear of those speakers you've been wanting forever but afraid to buy from a stranger? You don't want to hear about that preamp that someone else got a deal on which is drawing no bids and is going cheap? You don't want to have a chance on that amp you have been eyeing for years which is going for a price you would actually pay?
That's ok with me, I won't tell you about it. But let me tell you this, I've picked up a lot of good deals here and I plan on posting any I see.
I'll agree to disagree here but I plan on posting links to good deals be them mine or ones I happen across. If you wish to not participate that is your loss.
Just wondering, do you buy used stuff and how often?

Oops .. they hadn't been sold earlier ... -
Hey,
That is a great price! I just sold mine to a polk member for $100 more. You know, if he had listed them here my good friend could have saved $100 and it wouldn't have bothered me in the least. Does this not prove my point? I wasn't out to make anything but I offered a price and it was paid. So tell me this, did this member do a great service to my friend by not offering it here??????? (nothing against hoosier at all, he is a great guy).
btw,
Hoosier just offered a great deal and you can bet it was worth every penny. He probably didn't offer it here because of you guys. Re-read what I just wrote above and tell me it wouldn't have been worth everyones while that he posted it here...
Given the feedback here I can say I may take hoosiers direction in the future. It is just too much hassle here. It is also too dangerous personnally. What the heck are you guys trying to do here by creating the sort of atmosphere where people feel more confident offering great deals elsewhere? I say to re-think your direction.

EDIT: Let me make one more point here while I'm on a roll. Recently my good friend Mantis offered a pair of brand new (as far as you could ever tell) set of LSi9's for $500 with original packaging. All he got was a load of crap about why he wasn't offering a deal. I forget the list but to buy them on the cheapest internet sit was $630. These things are brand new other than less than 90 hrs of break in. Not a scratch on them and no flaws or even fingerprints for that matter. Is everyone here looking for bargin basement auctions here where everything goes for $10 to $20 each? I have a friend who thinks if stuff costs more than that it is not worth it. Is that where we are now? Lets get real, if you can get $600 on ebay you can't expect it to go here for nothing.
Sorry to go on but this seems pretty odd to me. Try to buy some of this stuff elsewhere. If you are one of those people who only buys something for nothing then you are just wasting everyones time. (not intended to anyone personally).Vinyl, the final frontier...

The Vicoprofen doesn't hurt either.
Personally, I couldn't care less if somebody posts a bid - TO A POINT that's on a case by case basis.
If there's been a post by a member seeking a piece of gear (ie, vintage tuner), and a 2nd member replies then posts a new austion for some gear that fit the bill,....! That's just wrong.
If it's Polk Audio. Don't **** in the food bowl.
Sometimes people need money! They have a choice. Go here and have members basically demand a lower price, a high post count, and detailed pictures, or throw it out to the general populace and take their chances. But if I were to buy a pice of gear, I'd
I've been thinking of selling some gear. Some stuff I wiil PM/E-mail members, some gear I will post here and I'll give a good deal and pack well. If it doesn't sell, I'll keep it for now. Some gear will go straight to e-bay (audiogon, locals, etc) because I need to make a return on my investment. I'm not seeing anybody asking for a Dual 510 for JBL C54s. Both of which I could make a bit of scratch on.
If I were to bid on something, it would make me much more comfortable it they were a member in high regards.
I digress:
I love the good deals and will always pass them along.
We have 21,868 members - think about it.
It's very easy to just check out a bid or classified and ignore it.
If you bid on something - CALL DIBS. No bidding wars per se, but don't let that pair of $300 - F/X 1000s slip by just because you didn't want to ruffle some feathers eithers.
Dang, that took so long that I'm starting to sober up.Make it Funky!

If I'm looking for something I know where and how to look. You don't want to hear of that great piece of equipment up for sale that you have been salavating over? You don't want to hear of those speakers you've been wanting forever but afraid to buy from a stranger? You don't want to hear about that preamp that someone else got a deal on which is drawing no bids and is going cheap? I don't think anyone has a problem with this.I've picked up a lot of good deals here and I plan on posting any I see.
You might want to look at who started the "Good Polk Forum buyers and sellers..." thread. Just to save you the trouble...it was me. I have bought and sold here. I have bought on E-bay (no audio sales). I have bought on Audiogon. I have bought used from individuals.Just wondering, do you buy used stuff and how often?
I went back and reread the thread and exactly 1 (ONE) **** gave him any crap about the deal and he was promptly chastised by the memebers of the forum. Several members showed interest and most everyone responding (including Dan's sparring buddy TroyD) said they were a great deal. It appears Dan sold them but I don't know it they went to a forum member. That thread is EXACTLY how the Polk Flea Market should work. A member posts a deal, he gets positive feedback on both his price and character, several are interested but unforutnately can't swing it, a jerk troll pops up and the members blast him and the item ultimately gets sold.Recently my good friend Mantis offered a pair of brand new (as far as you could ever tell) set of LSi9's for $500 with original packaging. All he got was a load of crap about why he wasn't offering a deal.
This is my last thought and comment on the subject. To repeat again...Most members are OK with posting here and then moving to e-bay if no sale occurs (even posting a link for someone that might come on the forum after the fact and might be interested). They are even OK with posting a good deal someone has come across on e-bay or audiogon that someone here might be interested in.
What I and like minded members are opposed to is coming on here FIRST with YOUR (not you madmax - just figuratively speaking) ebay or audiogon link. The person who does that is not looking out for other Polkies...IF that were the case it would be posted here first with a FAIR price. Posting an e-bay link here first is simply using the members to drive up the price IMO. If a person feels they need to get top dollar and feels they need to go to e-bay...that's fine...DO IT. Just don't use the forum members as tools to get your best price."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

See this is what I'm talking about...
http://clubpolk.polkaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18763
Maybe there's no harm in stuff like this, but it just doesn't jive with me...the flea market turns into a launch pad for everything instead of what it is today...
But maybe that's the direction the group wants to go in...I don't know... -
I don't know, for whatever reason that doesn't bother me. Well, at least if I knew he had a lot of polk stuff in there it wouldn't. As I look at the ads I would either say to myself "Hey, I've been looking at those" and look at the link or "Certainly not interested in that" and moved on in 10 sec or so. I guess some of my annoyance is the overbearing nature of the comments of what can and cannot be posted. Kinda makes me feel like it might be a little safer not to post at all, especially if I don't want to start something.
Of course no one can accuse me of not wanting to start something.
