New to Forum, Old to Polk

Just found you guys, but I've owned a pair of Monitor 7As since 1983. (I'll be upgrading soon, so these will be on the market.) Glad to be aboard!

    Why do you want to get rid of them? Going to be hard to find an upgrade that sounds as good as the classic Polk monitors. It can be done, but it won't be cheap.

    You're some where off 287 (central Jersey?). +1, I have 5As and 10As and neither is going anywhere. Well, I might let the 5As go if I could pick up some 7As. But as Brock says, these are really hard to upgrade unless you plan to spend some coin--which I don't have.

    I've been thinking about replacing my M-70s with my 10As in the HT system as L/R fronts for the somewhat more extended bass and musicality of the Old school monitors. The M-70s do fine for HT. But in two channel, I do have to give the nod to the Monitor 10As.

    Well, obviously I think highly of them, or I wouldn't have held onto them so long. I'll respectfully disagree on how they stack up against the best modern speakers.

    But the primary reason for the change is that I want something with a narrower profile. Also, that tacky old vinyl veneer has outlived its charm.

    I passed on a pair a while back, and wished I would not of. I would just keep them, the vinyl veneer is part of the nostalgia, and having some old favorites to hook up once in a while is a nice trip down memory lane.
