Why are most all companie useing RCA conections. When there are so many which are better and some air tight. Why not use XLR, BNC, MIDI, etc. for interconnects. In an article I read it said others would improve the sound quality quit a bit. It makes sence the high end equipment use some of them. Why haven't the companies who make receivers going in this direction. They did change to digital and S-video, but componet is still RCA. Is it that much more expensive or a room problem? Balanced inputs are not RCA is it a quality thing. Just wondering what you all think about this or if it matters to you. Thanks

    mostly because rca inputs & outputs takes up less room than the others that you mention plus cost, just thank that my yamaha rx-v1 had all xlr connetors the back end would be two times bigger. there are 88 rca connetors i just counted them.

    1- 15" audiosource sub

    XLR connectors are for a "balanced" signal.
    The electronic circuitry to support a fully balanced configuration is approximately double.

    The balanced signal drops background noise a full 6db.
    Thus, it cleans up the noise floor considerably.
