Rack question...

Anybody ever run into this rack?

http://www.racksandstands.com/Sanus-Euro-Video-Stand-Stand-w-3-Shelves-EFAV40-B1-SY1360.html

I'm thinking about getting it, as my old converted rack/tv mount is a little overloaded, and that scares me. I also could use the extra space.

I'd like a wide, three shelf unit, and I can't find anything with doors that is near my price range. I could go higher if anybody has a recomendation, as this will be in our living room for now, so WAF could be a bit higher then this one. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Alright, you all get ONE rack joke as well. Let em' rip.

The only thing I hate about those type of racks for H/T is the wire management issue. If done properly it can look good, but most of the time the ones I see look a hot mess.

I have the single wide version of that and have been happy with it so far. It's sturdy, easy to put together, and modular. I don't know if I would want it in my living though as it seems more purpose built rather than built for visual pleasure. I'll stick with the Schroers and Schroers for the main room.

That being said... the best racks are meant for visual pleasure

I use both the 40 wide and the upright in the basement and love them.
Very sturdy and the modular capabilities are great.I keep an extra shelf and different height posts on hand so if i want to change things around i can make the shelves 5,8,or 12' height and add or remove shelves in about 5 minutes.
And i think it looks great for a man cave but also agree not a "furniture" piece for the living room.

I'm loving them! I picked them up locally about a year ago, took a while to find a space they worked in (both physically and sonically) but now they sound and look great.

I have a set myself and love them also. They were just a little flat sounding until I changed tubes in my cdp, this really woke them up. They have an incredible sound stage.

I like those wide models--looks similar to my Salamander rack (triple 20).

It was relatively expensive ($1450 IIRC), but I have to say with hindsight I'm glad I bit the bullet. It's a beautiful piece of furniture that we will use for many years to come. You can add other racks to it, add shelves, change the doors, put drawer units in it, instead of shelves, etc, etc. To give you an idea of size, that's a 58" plasma on it. I think it's 65" long...

I went with the black perforated metal on the sides/doors because I didn't want resonance building up in the cabinet, plus it aides in keeping the Parasound amp cool.

Steve I thought your rack looked familiar. We have a Salamander dealer here and we were looking at the Oslo series from the Chameleon collection. Expensive but gorgeous.

We went with a rack from Sonora (http://www.davecohifi.com/sonora.php?display=furniture). Went with the 190 series which is metal and glass. 52" wide and 22" deep. Nothing sticks out the front. Mounted our TV to the optional stand that raises the TV. Our rack was a mere 1/3rd of the Salamander ones but the quality is still very good.

Lots of variety for everyone out there.

Alright! Assembled the rack last night, and undid the rig this morning, went to an auction, came home and loaded the new rack up. All I can say is wow, I'd been holding off on hooking a few things up, and rewiring the rig for the rack. I'm happy I spent some extra coin on ICs, power cables (Thanks Paul!), and a conditioner. The newly assembled rig is here! I moved in my MIT EXp1's for my mains, and 2's for everything else, and added a PC to the Oppo. When I first got it back up and running, I flipped on the PS3, and put on the new FF album, BLEH! Very gross sound from saved PS3 music. So I ran out the the car, grabbed the CD and loaded it into the Oppo. Wow! I'm very happy with the sound. The PS3 sounded semi-distorted, but the Oppo is crystal clear. Can you tell that I'm excited?

    Pics coming soon.
