Klipsch Forte Tweaks

I have a pair of Klipsch Forte II speakers I have owned since purchasing new in 1995. I have read about the Bob Crites upgrades but am wondering what it would be like to use an active crossover to triamp them. I already have an ADCOM GFA-6000 that I would like to use the L and R channels for the woofer. I figure 2 little amps, like GFA-5200s shouldnt be too hard to come by for the horn midrange and horn tweeter. What would be a good active crossover to use to pull this off and how would I compensate for the midrange horn's sensitivity? Would it matter that the highs and mids were mosfet while the woofer was bipolar ( I thing the 6000 is bipolar, but I am not sure). Please provide your thoughts on this crazy idea.

Personally, it is not a bad idea....

I would pair them with tube amplification and upgrade the capacitors and resistors.

The Klipsch Forum is a great place to get tons of info and experience from folks who have been there done that.

Sell the Adcoms and roll some tubes.

Get a nice tube amp and forget the whole Triamp idea. Horns love Tubes.

Tri-amping would not be a good idea. There is no need to separate out the horns as it would be to no benefit. The best thing to do would be to split the crossover, and bi-amp the Fortes with the woofer and the horns separate. I have considered doing this with my own Fortes, as it would solve the (minor) issue of SS bass verses tube sweetness.

Bob Crites does offer great products and I use his autotransformers and titanium tweeters in my Fortes. I decided to build my own custom crossovers, but would not hesitate to use his either.

Upgrade to Crites crossover and diaphragm. Will be pretty fun... I was going to do it until I moved and sold them.

My wife wants me to sell them. They have been in storage at my parent's since 2002. She had me convinced for awhile, but I recently told her there was no way I was selling them and tha we needed to find a place for them. I definitely plan on doing the Crites upgrades as well and will consider all the rest.

I did the full Crites upgrades on my Fortes including the Titanium tweeters and upgraded mids. Ran them with a tube amp. Killer sound for not a lot of $$
