This has probably been posted before.. but since i'm sorta new to this forum.. i thought i'd give it a go.

What disc do you put in your player to show off the audio in your system to your friends? This can be an audio CD, DVD, PS2, DVD audio, SACD, any digital format disc.

Which disc gives good bass, highs, or your system a good workout?

Some of my faves are.. for showing what the subwoofer can do.. i really like U-571 the underwater depth charges give my sub a workout..

SPR or course... for good surround sounds. Gladiator is good too. For audio only... Fleetwood Mac - Rumors in DVD audio is great... so is Hell Freezes over by the Eagles.
thanks

Is there really a difference in the double disk set?
Or is it just "the making of" and all that stuff?

Try some older Days of the New or Dave Matthews and your ears will melt with pleasure. Tantric is another that makes the system shine.

Just watched Pink Floyd "The Wall" on DVD the other night and it is a good test for the HT set up.

Prolly my favorite audio disc is U2, rattle and hum, REALLY does a great job from top to bottom, good highs, good mids, good bass, just a very complete sound and awesome to demo.

One of the best soundtracks to me is still true lies, when they blow up the bridge, to the gun fight, and just overall great sound.

Matrix has a great soundtrack but is a very 'green' movie and isn't a good demo for video.

and lastly, the abyss special edition. Prolly one of my all time favorite movies...just something differant to view...

HEAT has incredible sound throughout; some highlights

    *Armored car heist

    *Downtown LA shootout (awesome!)

*Showdown at the airport (thunderous jetliners)

The above are very bass heavy scenes, yet the movie has several 'quiet as a whisper' moments too, giving the system a good workout throughout it's range.

My favorites for dvd sound are as follows:

Pearl Harbor (low flying planes are awesome)
    True Lies (opening snow shootout)
The Gift( makes me jump each time I watch it)
