Got a call yesterday saying my Iphone 4S was ready to be picked up at the store. Went to the store to pick it up, rep had it all set up and ready to go. All it needed to do was be shut down and restarted. He went to turn it on and it just stayed on the main boot up screen. After 1 1/2 hours we both came to the conclusion it was not going to work. I was at the main store here in town which is also a service center. They said it would have to be repaired or a new one ordered and I could pick it up in a few days. Told them that if this is the way a NEW phone works I was not interested. They would not open another phone in the store and give me that one. Since my 2 year contract was up months ago I just cancelled altogether. I only used my phone like 2-3 times a month anyway. I just hate cell phones. I lived without one for years and never really needed it in the first place. If it's important call my home and leave a damn message. If you're calling to tell me someone someone died, who cares, they are already dead so no rush.

Btw, I had Sprint in case anyone cares and for unlimited everything it was $80.00 a month inclusive of the insurance plan. Pretty good but considering I only used it a few times a month that's like $20.00 -$30.00 a frickin' call. I will use that $80.00 a month for a new tube amp or buy that 50" Pioneer Kuro Signature still in box for $900.00 my buddy has for my spare room. Decisions, decisions.
    Everything matters. That is all.
Money cannot buy happiness, but it sure can buy a bad **** boat to pull up along side it though.

Not when it comes to phones!
The rest of the world disagrees with you. At least according to sales figure as last I checked the iPhone 4 was still the number one selling smartphone.

Marginally better screen resolution that the droid bionic. But I do have a bigger screen. I can also upload and down load files just as fast. Having flash 11 is sweet too. Tons and tons of free apps available on the android market.
Being able to print files using my phone with an external printer really rocks!
I can also add bigger batteries and up the memory at any time. And those are a few things off the top of my head.
Screen size is a preference, higher resolution really isn't.

The need for flash on a mobile device these days is really minimal. In the last year that I've had my android phones I've used it maybe a couple times.

Plenty of free apps on ios as well.

I can print directly from any of my iOS devices directly to my canon printer, works great.

I can also add to my battery with one of those battery pack cases. As far as upgrading the battery I don't really have a need to because my battery life doesn't suck like yours does. Tell you what, you upgrade to the biggest you can find and we can compare battery life.

Being able to upgrade the 'memory' as you call it is the one thing you have going for you, but with all the cloud options that's almost a moot point.

    Your camera isn't as good.
Your screen colors aren't as good.
    Blah blah blah...

I could argue that my phone is better, but I won't because it's a dumb thing to argue about, I mostly wanted to point out the flaws on your argument since you decided to start the argument to begin with

Well the Droid Bionic does have a lower resolution screen but it is the same size as my Galaxy S II which is SAMOLED+ but the Bionic uses PenTile Matrix tech which leave a lot to be desired.

It is also has less storage capacity than an iPhone 4S.

With that said, I have Flash on my Galaxy, which will run circles around a Bionic as far as performance, battery, size, weight, etc and I can still admit the iPhone 4S is one awesome phone.

The iPhone 4 is NOT an iPhone 4G. Just... to make sure people know that. No 4G.

I am really enjoying playing around with SIRI. Overall, the phone is excellent, not as feature rich as some Droid phones, but the ability to integrate it with my Pioneer Elite, Samsung TV, Mac, and Apple TV makes it far more appealing and enjoyable. Just starting playing Siege, darn thing is addicting. LOL

That's actually a very good assessment.

When advising friends and family I usually tell them that the iPhone may not do everything, but what it does it usually does very well.

I think the ability to easily integrate Apple's products with one another is a huge selling point, even more so for those of us looking for easy audio control throughout the house. With the airport express, apple tv, etc... it makes things fun and easy with a lot less cable running. However, I do appreciate Droid phones as they should appreciate Iphones, they keep each other competitive and evolving.

I wanted to clarify further for anyone who may not know...

What confuses things is the way that AT&T 'labels' 4G. They have several 4G phones (Atrix, Infuse, Inspire, etc) that are a different breed of 4G than the new LTE technology. They call these 4G, but they technically run on their 3G network hardware, just at faster speeds, but not at the same LTE speeds that Verizon and other carriers can obtain. So they're called 4G devices, but they're really more like 3.5G.

The reason I mention this is that the iPhone runs on that same '4G' technology. So while Bob is technically correct in that it's not the iPhone 4G, it's just as '4G' as most of the other AT&T '4G' phones that are out today, in every way that matters.

I've tested my 4S side by side with my wife's 4 using the speedtest app, and the 4S is consistently faster on the half dozen or so tests that I've run. It's not a huge difference though and not something we would likely notice while using it (I'm getting consistanly around 6 down and 1.5 up and she's getting 5 down and 1 up). I have no 3GS to test, so I don't know how it compares. Both phones are about the same speed as my Atrix 4G.

I actually switched from the iPhone to an Android phone this time around - partially because I just wanted something new to play with. The iPhone 3G S was my first smart phone and I did the whole get up early and stand in line at the Apple store thing. Never really had any complaints about the iPhone - and as some mentioned, being able to integrate smart phones w/ your AV equipment, computer, etc. extends their usefulness. For those who do use alot of apple products (macs, apple tvs, etc.) I can see sticking with an iPhone as being sensible. I have an iPod 160GB for the car / gym, so that'll remain.

I don't see anything not to like about the iPhone 4S - everything that was announced, I kinda expected. And initial browser / gfx performance looks good. But I wanted Flash, native FLAC support, etc. so after flip / flopping the last few days, I picked up a Samsung Galaxy S2 yesterday. So far I'm liking it a lot :) Plus the hiss from the blue-tooth connection with my Pioneer AVH-P5200BT HU in the car is gone (was assuming it was the HU before).

Frankly they're very similar experiences, so to each his/her own. So congrats to us all for our new toys

Even LTE isn't 4G as far as the standards bureau has defined it, but that apparently doesn't matter to marketing folks. Never let facts get in teh way of a good slogan, right?

Rather than names like 4G that at this point don't mean anything, just give a max download speed, and then some marketing name. "300Mbps LTE!" or "84Mbps HSPA+!"

Well to be fair, Android has been able to do many things like send texts, run searches, etc. via voice for quite some time now. (years) If I ask it, "What's the weather like on San Francisco?" it will bring up proper results.

The area Android comes short is setting an alarm, calendar, reminder and things like that.

It is too bad that Apple is artificially limiting Siri to the iPhone 4S when the iPad 2 is faster and people have already managed to get it to run on the 4. Apple is blocking any commands being sent back to the 4 since it is all server/cloud based like Google voice recognition, which will run on virtually any handset.

What android app are you using. The one on my X suck and not nearly as fast and complete as the new I phone I just tried.

I like the droids but the new Iphone SIRI is sweet and has me rethinking getting an Iphone. On the droid I have touchdown which gives me email server options like a BB but the Iphone and Ipad email sucks, no select all for one. This is the part that has me struggling.

Are you running the original Droid? My gf has it and it is drastically slower than on my SGS2. It comes down to the CPU speed. I can ask it what the weather is like and less than two seconds later I have a result.

I use Touchdown on my phone and actually prefer it since my IT department doesn't have complete control to wipe my device unlike on my iPad 2 and how it was on my iPhone 4.

I finally picked up a 4s 64g from my 4 32g. Really not much difference other then Siri , and it's faster with more space. O do however like the Text talk , very cool so if you have to text and drive you can talk text and drive. NICE!

Picked up a 4S for myself last month after buying an upgrade off of my friend. It's on Sprint (unfortunately) so the data is a tad slow, but it's unlimited ($50/month/line Sprint ERP). They don't offer insurance except for applecare. Anyways I went from a Samsung Galaxy S (Epic). This phone is so much faster. The screen is amazingly sharp. Not as Vibrant as the Galaxy, but it is pretty accurate. I miss the blacks on the amoled screen. The phone is very good looking, easy to use, and well built. I'm just afraid I'm going to drop the shiny thing, so I purchased the otterbox defender for it. Then the fiance got jealous... (she had an Epic as well), so this last Friday I purchased another person's upgrade off Craigslist and got her a white 4S as well.

That being said I also carried a Motorola Atrix (AT&T) and would not have gone to Iphone if I had to choose between Android and iOS5. I love android and refuse to give it up totally. Since my company pays/provides me the AT&T phone, I decided to give iPhone a go since I never owned one, and my brother keeps speaking about it like sliced bread. I do like it a lot, but some things bother me. Things such as not being able to take a picture then posting it to Facebook. You have to go into Facebook and choose a picture or take one within it. On the Android you could take a picture and hit "share".

I also purchased a Galaxy S2 off of Craigslist the same night as the fiance's iPhone and replaced my Atrix with it. Super Amoled+, dual core, etc. I like it a LOT. It's so thin. I'd be hard pressed to choose between it and the iPhone4s if I had to give one up. The data on it is much faster because it's AT&T vs Sprint. Turns out I picked up an unlocked international version as well (unbranded) so I got pretty lucky. Both are good phones... I like them a lot and each has weaknesses/strengths.

I'm finding Siri can be useful but she isn't KITT yet. It's great for Apple type tasks in calendar , reminders , calling someone , voice texting , weather , stocks etc. But it sometimes gets confused when you ask it questions, sometimes it finds what you want , sometimes it don't. Yeah I know it's a lazy thing as I can google info myself , but it's pretty damn cool to talk you your phone and get info in return.
I also know it's still bata right now and I except it's flaws. Overall I think Siri is pretty neat and a very cool look to the future.

Coming from the iPhone 4 , now that I have had it for a few days in the S , I'm noticing the speed a lot more. Tasks are much faster , apps load way faster. My partner at work still has the 4 and we compared speed and the S is much faster at everything. Games play better and smoother , whats funny you don't notice these little things with the 4 unless you directly compare it to the 4s. Also the camera is greatly improved , I only took a few pic's so far but from what I have seen , it's much improved. The real test will be indoor shots. Outside always looks good.
I don't expect the camera to replace a good quality stand alone model but it would be nice if you can take a series of pic's and look at them on a 60 inch Tv and get good quality images. The 3gs and 4 pic's where ok at best. The 4 was slightly better.

Overall the iPhone for me is the perfect match. It does everything I want it to do and much more. It's such a useful tool for work and a excellent toy for play. If you stop and think how many devices it can replace , it's value goes way up. Just for starters , GPS , Alarm clock , Calendar , Camera are just a few things that purchased would add up to much more then retail of the iPhone. Just a GPS car unit alone costs more , I payed $699 just a few years ago for mine which I don't even use anymore.

I know right? It's a minor inconvenience, but why take something away that was already quite useful?

I like both phones....but if I had to chose only one I'd probably go with the SGS2. I'm fortunate to have both.

I dont know if anyone else has played with the Galaxy Nexus, but this thing seems like an iPhone killer to me. Its joins the iPhone with unexpandable memory (@ 32g on verizon), but this has to be the best screen i have ever seen on a phone to date. Also the camera is only 5 megapixels but as most educated people know lower megapixels don't make for a bad camera. I was worried it might not be as good as my 8 megapixel on my previous phone but it shoots beautiful pictures and 1080p video. Pretty nice design and Android 4.0 is fluid. I excited to see what comes out Q1 of 2012, but for right now I think this might be the best phone on the market (keeping in mind i'm only talking with in Verizon)
