Setting Speaker Pattern With Sony AVR

I'm trying to set up my Series II 5.1 speakers with a Sony STR-DH820 AVR (yea, I know, but I demolished my budget with the speakers). To start with I just want to hookup the two Monitor 70 fronts but I'm confused by the format of the Speaker Pattern selections:
2/0, 2/0.1, 3/0, 3/0.1, 2/2, 2/2.1, 3/2, 3/2.1, 2/3, 2/3.1, 3/3, 3/3.1, 2/4, 2/4.1, 3/4, 3/4.1, etc.
I'm familiar with the plain old 2.0 for two fronts, 2.1 with subwoofer, 3.1 with center added and so on. But I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to interpret these combinations. The AVR has a GUI menu and I think the diagrams on that display would make it clearer which to choose. But the GUI display requires an HDMI connection to the TV and Santa hasn't brought our flat screen yet, so I'm limited to the little one line built-in text display.
Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

Since you have a 5.1 set up, the 3/2.1 would be what you want. That's 3 in the front (L/C/R), 2 surrounds and 1 sub.Political Correctness'.........defined
