The CA 840A v3...brand new, with manuf. warranty & that piece gets great reviews. CA just makes great stuff, period. I did have the Krell KAV 250A in my system for some time. It is a great amp for sure but if I had to do over again...the CA all the way."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
I can't speak directly to the 840A, but I do have two 840W amps and an 840E pre. In appearance, the 840A looks like the 840E, and the amp section appears to be a slightly less powerful version of the 840W. I can say that I absolutely love the sound I get from the 840E/840W combination. Based on that I would suspect the 840Av2 will also be an excellent performer. I could find no reference to the v3, only the v2.
I suspect Cambridge is ready to come out with an upgraded line of gear soon. Audio-Adviser has a lot of their gear on sale as if they are trying to move old stock to get ready for the new, but that is pure speculation.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
