I wish to use an XBox as a media extender of my HTPC using the HDMI output splitting the signal by 2.
HDMI to Componet / Audio L / R

Feed from this splitter

Can that work given one signal needs to be 480x640 feeding the HDMI to composite video convertor, and the other 1080i?

On the converter's specs:
"Input HDMI Resolution: 480p (60 Hz), 576p (50 Hz), 720p (50/60 Hz),
1080i (50/60 Hz), 1080p (50/60 Hz)"
Now, there's no telling what the EDID is going to tell the xbox to output. Also see this from the reviews on the splitter:
"Thanks for the information, well what happens with the splitter is that it can't distinguish between two different resolutions at the same time so it will default to the lowest common resolution which I would assume in this case is 720p."Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Then there's this splitter.

This was a gamble that paid off. I had my doubts, since I needed to split the signal from a DirecTV receiver to one TV that uses an 1080i signal, and another that uses 720p. The results were fabulous! And great service from MonoPrice, received the unit only a couple of days after ordering it. Very happy customer!

I had problems with monoprice splitters and selectors in my setup, I would go to outdoorspeakerdepot and get something from them. I am not saying monoprice doesnt have good customer service, or that i wouldnt ever use their stuff, i just wouldnt use their hdmi stuff, I had several problems with splitters and selector switches. I used the speaker wire and several different interconnects that worked well but as far as Hdmi I had horrible luck with their products. To be fair to monoprice their customer service was setller.
You could also go to your local av shop and see if they can get what you need, sometimes it is high quality stuff for a great priceHarman kardon signature 2.1 amp

Jaritta,
Can I ask what you purchased from monoprice as far as a splitter? I seeing two levels of devices and one being higher tooted vs. the other splitter.
