Would this be worth it just for the tube/amp section?

Depending on what tubes they are and the condition the tubes alone could be worth more. But thats all I would be looking at..

I just don't know enough about it. Those transformers look huge though.

If you know nothing about tubes or electronics, stay away from those old console units, unless they have been refrubed and run recently. You will need some test equipment and a variac to use something that old that has been lying around, etc. Many of those old units don't sound all that great compared to more modern tube gear. Of course there are exceptions.

Looks as it could give you a very nice watt output, since the power tubes look large and the transformer look large.

Thanks. Actually, I would probably flip them if I could make some cash. Saving for a beefy amp for my 12s.

Stromburg/Carlson is one of the better one's, but at $200 I doubt you'd make any money, unless you did a complete refurb which would cost money as well. If you could get if it for $50-75 and had the skill to totally refurb it, you might make a little money. If you aren;t a tube electronics guru then pass.

You just missed out on my gem of a console, actually it's the Rolls Royce of consoles a Pilot 1090-A with the SA-232 el84 output tubes, none finer anywhere, sold in less than 12 hours at $400 and worth three times that! But I wouldn't sell it to a gutter buyer, it's going to be refurbed and loved

Getting into tubes cheap by gutting a old console is viable only if you know what you're getting into like the others mentioned, I just hate seeing a nice piece of history being trashed just to get that nice tube sound , breaks my heart!

I would just look for something a little "beefier",, unless you like to tinker with old tube amps--if your troubleshooting/knowledge of vintage tube amps are good,,then by all means, pick up a SC or Motorola.Me,, I'm at the age where I wanna listen to what I have,,if you want some vintage tube gear advice--pm jerryj12,,he's a whiz with this stuff,,and he has some SC and Motorola amps.

    That's a mono console; 200 is steep, I'd opine.

I was about to post that bit of information. It is a mono amp, find two of them, and do some refurb and you will have a fine pair of monoblocs. The SCs are will respected and very nice map as someone noted.

It does indeed look like a beefy amplifier; the trick may be to find two of 'em.
I assume the outputs are 6L6.

There is a place for mono... but I suspect the OP is lookin' for stereo. :-)
