I am currently in the market to purchase a new sub for my system.
Current system specs: onkyo 100w x7(1yr old), Polk LSi9 center and Lsi9 book shelfs, Sub: Polk 100watt, unsure of model, has two exhaust ports in back.

My system is less then satisfying for music. I have tweaked it as much as possible(fooled with various receiver settings and locations) but need more punch. I know this speaks of heresy, but I am considering purchasing a non-Polk sub. I have had two polk subs which sound watery at the low ends. I have known others who have had problems with blown amps in their subs. My question is, what other brands of subs would you recommend for my system?(price range 400-500 dollars)

I don't have a subwoofer, but as stated above, SVS looks very interesting. I sent an email to them a few weeks ago and got a huge reply back with some very good information. SVS has got some serious customer service, they are very helpful...

I got the SVS 25-31PCi for $550 and couldn't be happier. The cylinder fits wonderfully in a corner and is hiddent by a bookcase. The output is amazing strong, crisp, quick and clean is how I would describe it.

Shoot SVS an email asking them the best sub for your situation. Give them room dimentions and let them know how much you listen to music vs wathing TV. They will get back to you with just what you need for your price range.
