Hey guys, newbie here. I just got a cs20 center with m70 fronts. I have an older hk 154 rated at 30w/channel, is this seriously underpowering my monitors? Pioneer elites only way to go? I feel like the m70s arent living up to what ive read, wondering if its my receiver.
Thanks in advance

I know the older HKs provided more "real" power than rated, but that is a lot of drivers to be pushing with 30wpc.

I'd go with an SC series Pioneer Elite, or a seperate amp if it has preouts. The HK's are high current but the 70's can definitely handle a lot more power.

Hmm... if you had a 254, you'd have pre-outs and that would be sweet. Pioneer Elite is nice, for sure, but it's not the "only" way to go. Plenty of higher-end models out there that would do the 70s well. An amp would just do it better.

I've been looking at upgrading receivers now. Cs20, monitor 70s, psw505, surrounds pending. Ive been mostly viewing the denon 2112 or pioneer 10-21. Both can be found used around 500 below. Any input guys?

I highly recommend getting a receiver with pre-outs, you'll be glad you did in the long run.
