Sub wiring in a boat

I purchased 2 12" Kicker Comp subwoofers, and a Polk Audio PA 880 amp for my boat. I have the amp connected via RCA cables to the HU sub out. I have the sub power on the head unit at max power. I have a home built cabinet to fit under the dash of my boat. My problem is that I don't have any "thump" I was expecting something exciting...I have less than that. I currently have only one sub hooked up. It is 4 ohm single coil. According to PA 880 owners manual, I should have way more than enough power for this speaker. I could also hook up the 2 subs in either series, parallel, or one speaker each to the outputs on the amp.....

What am I doing wrong since I don't see (or feel) any bass? The speaker moves and is working, but not impressing me. Any suggestions?

I've never had bass I could see...

Ever notice how far sound travels on the water? I'm sure everyone else on the lake already thinks you have too much bass.

Part of having monsterous bass is having the speaker in an enclosed environment. In order to fill the open air you would need a pretty health setup. Having the sound system inclosed in a room or in a car is part of what makes the sound. If you just have open air the bass just travels away instead of beeing trapped or enclosed.

Like the other guys have said also check your gain and xo or low pass filter setting on the amplifier.
