Guys!! ,
Need your help with a few things i have a little doubt on.. here i go..

First i was under the impression that Digital Coaxial and Digital Optical cables have same sound quality and theres not any significant difference in those. Yesterday in CC i saw the same cables from Monster and the company(monster) rates coaxial and better and the optical as best?? Why would they do it?Is there some truth in it?

Secondly is using a banana connector with my 6700's going to give me a better sound quality or worse than the binding posts? Is there a noticable difference??

Thanks for the help in advance!

coaxial and optical are basically the same...some people prefer coaxial because the signal doesnt get changed into light and back into electrical impulses but most ppl cant tell a difference between the two.

banana plugs will still use your binding posts, they just make it easier to change the wire around and provides for a better connection then shoving wire in there.

I cannot tell the differance between coax and optical as far as a difference in sound quality, however, you can bend the coax around corners etc. without fear of breaking the "optic glass" inside the wire. Also, I would recommend staying away from "plastic optical" they just seem to have a poor build quality.

The banana connectors are very convenient and I use them but I would think that bare wire to the binding post would actually give the best connection, after that spade connectors.

I can tell the difference between the coaxial and optical cables, but only on one DVD...Diana Krall Live in paris...

For some reason I can hear it on that CD...I thought I heard it one day and had my wife help me do a blind test, and I can definitely tell the difference...perfer the coaxial...

But only with that one DVD...I'd be curious for some of the other guys on here to try it out as well and see what they find...

    I use coaxial exclusively.

Fiber optics are only for scaring the wife into thinking you are shooting a laser at her.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
