That's a cool feature. A lot of receivers have it. My Onkyo calls it the Double Bass option.
Enjoy!

Only problem is cancellation issues which is what I'm battling with my rig.

I'll +1 this. Just discovered it myself. Been playing with it a little, mostly with music so far. So far I like it.Pn51D550

Oh I know... but I'm having difficulties getting the sound I want. Need SPL meter then the fun begins. -
Splif, how do you like your BIC sub? BIC kinda gets a bad rap here, but I had a pair of bookshelfs that sounded really nice.
They seem to put out a decent product at a good price. -
SPL meters have some limits with very 'low' end bass so that may not fully solve you're problem. Of course, that depends on the meter.
I've balanced my system, both by ear and with an SPL meter and, believe it or not, my ear was almost equal to the SPL meter..the readings were pretty close.
You should be able to 'hear' the bass and tweak it reasonably well. The problem most people make is that they run their sub 'hot' which may be OK for movies but 'bad' for music. Pull it back some, play with the phase switch and you might get what you like?

As it being my only true experience with a real sub, my previous was HTiaB sub from Kenwood, I really like it. I don't have anything to compare it to as far as what "good" sounds like, but I don't have one complaint. Maybe out of ignorance?
I can say that playing BF:BC3 on xbox it shakes the house. Sometimes I think an actual tank is coming through my front door. Watching Avatar 3d a few nights ago and when the "dragons" were flying I could 'feel' their wings flapping. Playing music I hear and feel it and it doesn't seem over power the music or muddy it up at all.
All in all I'd give it a 10/10, but like I said, nothing to compare it to. Just count me as a satisfied customer. I've even looked at some of their speaker line since I've purchased it.Pn51D550

I dont know the technical way to set phase. I have herd you listen to music with a strong wallking bass rythim. Then just start trying the different settings. The one that produces the most bass is the correct one. I have my Polk DSW Pro 550WI about 1 foot from my left tower in the corner. It produces the most bass set at ethire 90 or 270. I cant remember what I have it set at.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
